I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our third 2C Pack Walk! 🐕🐾

I absolutely love seeing our 2C family come together, spending time with their dogs, building confidence, practicing skills, and enjoying each other’s company.

Now that the weather is finally starting to cool off a little, I’m hoping we can schedule even more pack walks! ☀️🍂

Please help me give a big, warm welcome to Cassie, the sweetest and smartest little Wheaten Terrier puppy! 🐶💕

Cassie is already showing just how intelligent and eager to learn she is! She picks up on new things so quickly, and I can already tell she’s going to be such a joy to work with.

🐾 Let dogs be dogs.

It’s important to give our dogs opportunities to use the natural instincts and abilities they were born with—like digging, sniffing, searching, and exploring.

Instead of constantly trying to stop a natural behavior, I like to ask: Where can I give them an appropriate outlet for it?

🕳️ Have a dog who loves to dig?
Rather than trying to eliminate digging altogether, create an appropriate digging area and teach them, “You can dig here.” Hide toys or treats in the area and make choosing that spot rewarding.

👃 Have a dog who loves to sniff?
Let them sniff! Sniffing is fantastic enrichment, and I also love using it as a real-life reward during walks. As a dog progresses and doesn’t need food reinforcement as frequently, access to a favorite sniffing spot can become the reward.

Training doesn’t always have to be about stopping behaviors. Sometimes it’s about giving our dogs a safe, appropriate way to be dogs. 💙

🐾 Latte’s Training Progress! 🐾

Latte knows what “sit” means—but now we’re working on something a little different: staying in the sit position.

Right now, Latte tends to quickly offer a down after she sits. Instead of correcting her, we’re working on building duration and teaching her that sometimes the job is simply to hold the position until she’s released.

We start small, rewarding her while she’s still sitting and releasing her before she decides to lie down. As she gets more successful, we can gradually increase the amount of time she holds her sit.

Training isn’t always about teaching a brand-new behavior. Sometimes it’s about adding duration, clarity, and patience to a behavior your dog already knows. 💙🐾

✈️🐾 Molly is getting ready for her first airplane adventure!

Today we’re working on helping Molly feel comfortable settling calmly in her travel carrier in preparation for flying on an airplane for the very first time.

Instead of waiting until travel day and hoping she handles it well, we’re introducing the carrier ahead of time and building positive associations with being inside, relaxing, and staying settled.

Travel preparation isn’t just about obedience—it’s about helping your dog understand what to expect and giving them the skills to feel safe and comfortable in a new situation. 💙

Little by little, Molly is learning: this is a safe place to relax.

Dylan’s been putting in some work with Cruella and Lupin! 🐾💙

He practiced touch, search, sit, and down—and they were actually listening to him! 😂

Minus a little cue repetition (we’ll work on that 😉), I might have another dog trainer on my hands in a couple of years.

Who knows… we might be looking at the future of 2C Dog Training! 💙🐶
