Today was socialize with your look-a-like day 😂. Nutmeg went out with Senka and Licorice tagged along with Gokkai for a small little adventure through our local downtown.

The Japanese Akitainu Club USA invites you to join us on Thursday, July 30, 2026, for the Nihon Ken Heritage Show and the Japanese Akitainu Specialty. Held in conjunction with the UKC Western Classic in Longview WA, this day serves as a celebration of the rich history, preservation, and community behind the native Japanese breeds.

We are honored to host two back-to-back specialty events:

SHOW 1: Nihon Ken Heritage Specialty

Judge: Claire Mancha

Eligible Breeds: Akita, Hokkaido, Japanese Akitainu, Kai, Kishu, Shiba, and Shikoku.

SHOW 2: Japanese Akitainu National Specialty

Judge: Cynthia Sanders

Eligible Breeds: Japanese Akitainu exclusively.

Classes Offered for Both Shows:
Specialty, Conformation (Altered Conformation, Junior Showmanship, Brace, Novice Puppy, Special Exhibition, and Veteran)

In honor of this year's heritage event, we are proud to feature custom show prizes adorned with original, hand-drawn artwork commissioned specifically for our club. In the coming weeks, we will be previewing photographs of these unique prizes here on our page.

Took the sisters on a walk this afternoon and got some nice stack photos of them. The matching poses was their idea 😂

Busy day for Nutmeg and Licorice. This morning was their first puppy class where we worked on entering and politely leaving the crate, calmly greeting a stranger, place, eye contact, and touch. Then we decided to take a little detour on the way home to our favorite pet store and were surprised that they were having a puppy birthday party. The girls were given doggy ice cream (which they loved, haha) and got to meet a bunch of new people.

And finally our sweet Saffron (now Miso) has started her new life with Amanda Werzel and Tomi. We are very excited to see her adventures with them and know that she is going to have a wonderful life.
