We are very happy to announce that we have another veterinarian joining our team! Dr. Mike Stenz will be joining us every other Tuesday and Thursday starting January 13th! He is a familiar and beloved face for many of you, and we are so excited to have him as an addition to our team. Please help us welcome, Dr. Stenz to River Valley Animal Center!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fred Viets, the husband of our beloved hospital manager, Cindy. Fred tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on August 13. He and Cindy shared eight years of marriage and are the proud parents of three beautiful boys.

This time of year and especially during heat waves it is not safe to leave your pets or children in parked cars! We have already seen one case and the pet unfortunately did not make it! The heartbreak that the staff are dealing with and the owners is unimaginable!

In the past 2 weeks there has been 2 positive rabies case’s. 1 coyote in East windsor and 1 raccoon in Windsor Locks. We just want to remind everyone that it is important to update your animals for rabies and keep them current as it is required in the state of Connecticut! rabies virus is fatal
