One of the first things I will teach your horse when they come in for training

When I take the halter off my horses, I expect them to lower their heads and tip them toward me. It’s the opposite of him wheeling away from me as soon as he feels me unfastening the halter and burying his nose in the feed bucket or looking off at the other horses and planning his run around the pasture.

When I remove the halter, I rub him and look for him to stay in position. Just because you’ve taken the halter off of him, that’s not his cue to jerk his head up, wheel around and race off to his pasture buddies. – Clinton

Wrapping up Rumors 60 days, this filly has a great foundation. I know she’s going to go on & do big things with whoever she ends up with🤩

First ride off the property for this filly! Lead, followed, she did it all!

“Great horses are developed over years, not trained in months”
Read that again.... great horses are DEVELOPED...
A great horse is like a work of art. Someone saw the potential but waited patiently while they took one step forward and two steps back. They drug them all over the country seasoning them. They worked tirelessly to keep them healthy during the training process so they could have a sound “finished” horse down the road. All of this takes time, it takes patience, it takes vision.
It’s easy to send your horse to a trainer and think that all the hard work is done. That is false. A trainer can help to establish a great foundation for you to build off of. But no amount of training will ever replace time, time spent DEVELOPING your horses skills and confidence.
If you are unwilling or unable to commit to this type of sometimes non rewarding/very frustrating endeavor then a finished horse maybe what you need. (Which should never be looked down upon! Us trainers have to make a living too, and selling you finished horses keeps us going!) Keep in mind though that someone else went through the emotional, financially straining and very time consuming process of DEVELOPING that horse for you to go and enjoy. That is why nice horses are expensive, you get what you pay for!
