Maine C***s and Norwegian Forest Cats are easy to mix up at first glance.

Both are large.

Both are fluffy.

Both have thick coats built for cold weather.

Both can have impressive ear tufts and enormous tails.

But once you know what to look for, they start to look much less alike.

Maine C***s tend to have a broader, more rectangular muzzle and a longer, more rectangular body. Norwegian Forest Cats usually have a more triangular head shape, with a straighter profile from forehead to nose and a slightly different overall build.

Their personalities can differ too.

Maine C***s are often described as social, playful, and very people-oriented. Norwegian Forest Cats can also be affectionate, but they may come across as a little more independent and reserved.

Then there is the coat.

Both breeds have dense fur, but the Norwegian Forest Cat’s double coat developed for harsh Scandinavian weather, while the Maine C**n’s shaggy coat has its own distinctive texture and shape.

They are both striking cats.

They are just not the same cat in two different fur coats.

Which one would you pick: Maine C**n or Norwegian Forest Cat?

🌫️ **Air Quality Alert: Protect Your Pets, Too!** 🐾

If the air isn't healthy for us to breathe, it isn't healthy for our pets either.

With today's **Air Quality Alert**, it's best to:
🐶 Keep walks short or postpone them until the air quality improves.
🏡 Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
💧 Make sure fresh water is always available.
😮‍💨 Watch for signs of respiratory distress, including coughing, wheezing, difficulty breathing, excessive panting, or unusual tiredness.

Pets with heart or lung disease, senior pets, puppies, kittens, and flat-faced breeds (like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Persian cats) are especially sensitive to poor air quality.

A quick potty break is okay for most pets, but save the long walks, runs, and outdoor playtime for a day when the air is healthier.

If your pet is having trouble breathing or seems distressed, please contact your veterinarian right away.

Stay safe, stay inside when you can, and give your furry family members an extra cuddle today! ❤️🐾

With wildfire smoke creating poor air quality across the U.S, the AVMA is reminding the public that wildfire smoke can pose serious health risks not only to people, but to pets and livestock as well.

Smoke from wildfires contains fine particles that can cause respiratory issues in animals, especially those with pre-existing heart or lung disease. Pet owners should keep a close eye on their animals during poor air quality events and contact their veterinarian if any of the following signs appear. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4wqddp3

HUGE THANK YOU to Denise Heroux and her wonderful Staff at Awesome Paws in Olmsted Falls! They helped our guy Tommy get a fresh new look! He’s patiently waiting in his fabulous foster home to be fixed, then he’ll be adoptable through Berea Animal Rescue.

It truly takes a village for these rescue pups! We're grateful for everyone who helps along the way!!
