Star Equestrians

Star Equestrians Star Equestrians offers therapeutic riding lessons to riders of all abilities. All lessons are taught by PATH Intl. Registered Certified riding instructors.

Star Equestrians offers OT-informed, horse-powered programs that build confidence, focus, coordination, and emotional regulation through horsemanship for individuals with developmental, emotional, and sensory needs. Trained volunteers assist with lessons. Our lesson horses are well trained, sturdy ponies who know how to do their job well. A typical lesson lasts one hour. During this hour, the ride

r will spend at least 30 minutes riding (riding time depends on riders' age and endurance) with the rest of the time spent learning to care for the horse from the ground (grooming, tacking, feeding, leading, ground work). When scheduling riding lessons, we try to work with everyone's schedule so riding days vary from season to season. Give us a call with additional questions. If there is no answer then we are probably at the barn, so be sure to leave a message!

Busy day and lots of learning! 🐴

Today’s grooming activities provided opportunities to practice fine motor skills, bilateral hand coordination, responsibility, communication, and confidence building while caring for our horses.

Some of the best learning happens with a horse by your side. ❤️

Some moments on the farm don’t need many words. Just hoof prints on the ground and a reminder that this life has purpose. The horses were made for us; and in so many ways, we were made for them. 🐴❤️

🐴✨ We are so proud of Lilah (LuLu) at Star Equestrians! ✨🐴

LuLu continues to remind us that growth doesn’t always come in big flashy moments — sometimes it comes through patience, trust, consistency, and simply showing up. ❤️

She has become such an important part of our program, helping create meaningful connections through horsemanship, confidence-building, emotional regulation, and functional skill development in a calm, supportive farm environment.

Every horse has a story, and LuLu’s gentle spirit continues to make an impact on the lives of the children, women, and families who spend time with her. We are incredibly thankful to have her as part of the Star Equestrians family. ⭐

At Star Equestrians, the farm is more than just a beautiful backdrop — it’s part of the mission. 🌱🐴

The plants, gardens, and produce grown here help support Star Equestrians and the Nature Reins OT practice operating under the Star Equestrians umbrella. From watering plants and exploring the gardens to spending time with the horses, every part of the farm is intentionally connected.

Our produce, baked goods, plants, and farm store sales help support:
✨ Horse care and feed
✨ Farm maintenance
✨ Ground-based horsemanship programs
✨ The Summer Horsemanship Series
✨ Therapeutic Riding and Hippotherapy
✨ Nature Reins OT services and programming and more!

Through Nature Reins OT, we use horses, nature, movement, creativity, and meaningful farm experiences to support regulation, confidence, coordination, connection, and everyday life skills in a natural environment.

The gardens and farm spaces also create opportunities for:
🌿 Sensory exploration
🌿 Fine motor development
🌿 Responsibility and routine
🌿 Nervous system regulation through nature
🌿 Confidence, calm, and connection

Everything here has a purpose — the horses, the gardens, the produce, the farm store, and the peaceful rhythm of farm life. Together, they help us continue building a space where people can learn, grow, and reconnect through nature and horsemanship. 💚

Thank you for supporting local and supporting the mission behind Star Equestrians and Nature Reins OT.

Motivation Monday at Star Equestrians looks a little different here; because healing, learning, and growth don’t just happen in a classroom… they happen in the wind, in the soil, and right beside a horse who is calmly breathing through the same moment as you.

This week we’re introducing something simple but powerful: our Thinking Rock.

It’s a space on the farm where we pause, ground ourselves, and practice noticing what’s happening inside our bodies and minds before we respond. No pressure. No perfection. Just awareness.

In our Nature Reins OT method, we use what the farm already gives us; horses, open space, natural rhythms, and hands-on work—to help kids and adults build real life regulation skills. A horse doesn’t rush your nervous system. The land doesn’t demand you be anything other than present.

So this Monday, the challenge is simple:

Find your own “thinking rock” today; real or imagined.
Pause longer than you normally would.
Notice what you feel before you fix it or push past it.

Because progress doesn’t always look loud.

Sometimes it looks like standing still… and coming back to yourself.
