“My cat doesn’t need to go to the Vet. It is an inside cat! It can’t catch anything!”

Many people believe that and they are so wrong. Every time you walk into your home, you could be carrying fleas or ticks on your clothes, or an illness. And not just you, your friends that visit, the delivery guy, the cable guy, etc. Each of these could possibly carry diseases or parasites into your home and to your cat. Or on a cool, fall day, you open the windows of your home. Not only can that breeze blow in freshness, it may carry something harmful as well.

Pets are much like people. We get sick with many things. Diabetes, upper respiratory infections, kidney disease, dental disease, feline lower urinary tract disease, feline leukemia, or cancer, just to name a few. Many of these, if caught early are treatable, or can be deadly if left to grow or spread.

Take your cat for a yearly health exam and to get its vaccinations and parasite control. You just may save the life of your purrfect friend!!!

It was quite a morning in the show barn at the Henderson County Fair!! It was Stuffed Animal Day!! The crew from Schar's Veterinary Clinic were on hand to exam the stuffed animals being shown. The animals were so varied. The smallest was a snail and the biggest was a giant grizzly. Once seen be the fair Veterinarian the stuffed animals were then groomed and readied for the show ring by the ladies from Berry Creek Labs & Cockers. Each child was given a box shaped like a fair animal full of goodies by Schar's Veterinary Clinic, a scarf for the pet from Berry Creek Labs & Cockers. There were goodie bags and prizes drawn for provided by the Fair. The rain didn't dampen the fun. We all had a great time and look forward to next year.

Doctor Schar was nominated to be inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame!! He has volunteered many hours, days, years as the Veterinarian for the Henderson County Fair. He plans to serve many more years for the Fair. He gives his thanks this award. Lorrie, Spencer, Emma, and all of us that work for you are so proud of you, Doc!!!!

The 2026 Henderson County Fair starts next week. We are looking forward to it and hope to see many of you there. Over 30 years, Doc Schar has volunteered countless hours to the fair as the Veterinarian and taken care of generations of fair exhibitors animals and written reams of health papers. This year, we have seen many of the kids that come into our clinic and brighten our days and make us smile!!! Please share the fair pictures of your kids and their fair projects and animals and tag our page or share them right to us. Congratulations and good luck to every kid that has worked hard, dug deep, cared for, loved, and will show their animals with all their heart and soul. We are so proud of you!!!!!
