It is 90 degrees out on a hot summer day. You climb in your car and it is so hot it feels like 120 inside and you can hardly breathe! The first thing you do is immediately roll down the windows and turn on the Airco. Now, close your eyes and imagine you are a dog. Imagine it is that same car in 90 degree heat and the inside temp is indeed 120 degrees. You have been sitting in that car, WAITING in that car for 10, 15, 20 minutes, or more. Waiting for your person to come open the door and put down the windows so you can breathe. Just imagine, your person does not make it in time to save you. But, like a good dog, you Waited!

Many times when a pet is brought in to see us, they suffer from an infection or other illness that requires prescription medication. This medication works to clear up the infection, treat the illness, relieve pain, etc. These medications can not only aid in your pets recovery if given as prescribed, but, they can also make your pet seriously ill, and even die if your pet ingests too many. Never leave the medication where your pet can get to it. All medications should be placed in a cabinet right away, out of reach of pets. It only takes seconds for tragedy to strike. Should your pet get to the medication and ingest more than the prescribed dosage, call us as soon as possible! Do not wait!! In the first hour or two after ingestion, there are things we can quickly do to save the animal. After that amount of time, it could lead to things such as seizures, blindness, organ failure, even death. Please, always take the time to put medication in a safe place. We want to keep seeing the pets we have known and cared for, many all their lives. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Update: We got a call that the two puppies from Tuesday night are doing great and so is Momma. Puppies are eating well and growing! Wonderful news!!!!

An emergency C-section came in tonight. Momma had been trying since 4 this afternoon to have her babies with no success. When she was brought into the clinic, Doc quickly examined her and got her put under. Doc got only one large puppy out of horn 1 and handed it off to Paula. She cleaned it's mouth, gentle blew in the nostrils, and started massaging the puppy. Out of horn 2, came another lone puppy. This one was given to Lorrie to work on. It took a bit of gentle blowing in the nostrils and continued massaging, but then, the first puppy finally started breathing on her own, and soon puppy 2 was following along. He wasn't gonna let his sister be the only one. Then came the stretching and mewling!!! Those two little pups made such a joyful noise. It was music to the ears!! What joy!!! What excitement!! What happiness!! All the while, Doc Schar concentrated on Momma. He got her all stitched up and ready for her new babies. Princess and Trooper are now snuggled in and on their way home with Momma. It is times like these that touch the heart and make your soul happy!! What a wonderful night at Schar's Veterinary Clinic!!!
