✨Whether you’re a dog trainer or a dog owner trying to train your dog, sometimes we all need that little reminder to,

- just keep swimming -

✨I know I have my days. How about you?

⬅️⬅️

✨because training our dogs is so much more about US than our dogs.

✨If we don’t make the changes that are necessary in order to better our relationship, neither will our dog.

✨Dog training is not linear ✨

🌻 Some days will look incredibly promising while others will be less encouraging.

🌻 Just look at us. As humans, we are up and down and all over the place. Why would be expect training our dogs to look any different?

🌻 It’s important to remember that dogs possess different styles of learning and work at different paces.

🌻 While it’s easy to blame ourselves for our shortcomings, remember that our dogs are incredibly forgiving and are always willing to give us a second chance.

🌻 Our dogs are not robots and sometimes they have off days as well.

🌻 The best thing we can do for ourselves and our dogs moving forward is to be kinder to ourselves.

✨Take a deep breath and exhale✨

🌻 Be forgiving ourselves while being mindful of our dog’s experience.

✨ Reactivity is a human word ✨

✨Your dog isn’t going out of their way to be “reactive”. They are simply expressing themselves the way a dog would.

✨It’s important to remember to stop and look at the world through their lenses.

✨When our dogs are having what we call a reactive moment, that is their way of expressing over excitement/arousal, anxiousness, fear or even some insecurities.

✨It is our job as owners to help them navigate though their reactive moments by understanding what their body language is telling us, to advocate for them when they are feeling insecure, and to help them build confidence.
