Labor Day weekend means more people, more food, more movement and more chances for your dog to get put in a bad situation.
Dropped food around kids is a big one. A child reaches down at the same time your dog does, and suddenly everyone is dealing with something that could have been prevented.
Pay attention to the signs that your dog is done. Pacing, panting, hiding, walking away, getting jumpy, stiffening, growling or getting short with people or other dogs all matter.
If your dog needs a break, give them one!
Bring them inside. Give them some space. Keep food picked up. Keep gates shut. Do not wait until there is a problem to start managing the situation.
We need to protect our dogs and our guests at all times.
