🔥🐾 Things got a little SPICY at Oronoque Animal Hospital! 🌶️

We kicked off Veterinary Technician Week by putting our team in the HOT SEAT with our very own Hot Ones: Veterinary Edition! 🔥🐔

Armed with chicken wings, increasingly fiery hot sauces, and a little courage, our staff faced rounds of veterinary trivia and questions about what inspires them in the field.

As the heat turned up, so did the difficulty of the questions! Sharing what fuels their passion for caring for animals, our team proved they can handle the heat (well… some better than others! 😂).

It was a fun way to celebrate the knowledge, dedication, personalities, and heart that make our veterinary team so special!

Here's to kicking off Vet Tech Week with a little laughter, a lot of appreciation, and possibly a few regrets! 🌶️🔥🐾

🐾 National Veterinary Technician Week | October 18–24 🐾

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible technical staff who help keep Oronoque Animal Hospital running every single day!

Our veterinary technicians and assistants play an essential role in nearly every part of patient care, from assisting with appointments and treatments to anesthesia, surgery, diagnostics, patient monitoring, client education, comforting nervous pets, and so much more.

Their knowledge, compassion, patience, and hard work allow our doctors to provide the level of care our patients deserve. Simply put, we could not care for all of our clients and their pets without them. 💙

To our amazing technical team: thank you for everything you do, both behind the scenes and at the side of every patient who needs you. We appreciate you more than you know!

🐶🍽️ “Are you gonna finish that?”

Ever notice your dog consistently leaves just one or two pieces of food behind? There can be a few different reasons! Some dogs may simply be full, while others may be influenced by instinct, bowl shape, or even how easily they can see or reach the last few pieces.

If your dog has always done this and is otherwise eating normally, it may just be one of their quirks. However, if you notice a new change in appetite, increased pickiness, weight loss, vomiting, lethargy, or other changes in behavior, please contact the hospital so we can help determine whether there may be an underlying medical reason.

Keeping our pets safe involves more than responding when something goes wrong, it also means being prepared before it happens.

From keeping identification information current and pet-proofing your home to preparing for emergencies, there are plenty of simple steps we can take to help protect our four-legged family members.

One important tool is microchipping! At Oronoque, we use PetLink microchips to provide pets with a permanent form of identification should they ever become lost or separated from their families.

🐾 October is National Feral Cat Awareness Month! 🐾

Community cats are a part of many neighborhoods, and understanding their needs can make a big difference. Programs such as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) help manage outdoor cat populations by safely trapping cats, spaying or neutering them, vaccinating them, and returning them to their familiar environment.

This month is a great opportunity to learn more about feral and community cats, how to safely help them, and ways to support local TNR efforts. 🐱💙

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of one of our own Oronoque family members, Jennifer.

To know Jennifer was to know kindness, hospitality, and genuine compassion. She had a beautiful way of making people feel welcomed and cared for, always accompanied by her warm smile and thoughtful nature.

From the moment she joined our team, it was clear how deeply she cared for both people and animals. Her compassion extended far beyond her work with us, as she also maintained a long-standing relationship with another veterinary hospital and dedicated so much of herself to the veterinary community.

Jennifer could often be found helping a client with their pet, offering support to a coworker, or simply stepping in wherever she was needed. She had a generous spirit and a willingness to help that made a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to work alongside her.

She will be deeply missed by everyone at Oronoque Animal Hospital, as well as by the many clients, patients, friends, and colleagues whose lives she touched.

We are grateful to have known her, to have worked beside her, and to have called her part of our Oronoque family.

Our hearts are with Jennifer’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

Common fall toxins can include:

🚗 Antifreeze

🍎 Compost and moldy foods
🍁 Certain fallen leaves, especially for horses

Keeping garages, yards, storage areas, and outdoor spaces pet-safe can help prevent accidental exposure.
