Congratulations to Rylee Pustilnik, the 2026 winner of The Unleashable Scholar, the annual scholarship that we sponsor for a veterinary student who is interested in veterinary dermatology.

Ms. Pustilnik is a veterinary student at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. We were particularly impressed that she founded a student interest group in veterinary dermatology! Prior to her DVM journey, she was also a college student at University of Florida, where she was a track athlete.

We had several dozen candidates for the scholarship, many of whom were excellent, so we'd also like to thank everyone who applied. We'll open applications for our 2027 scholarship soon.

Please join us in wishing Ms. Pustilnik the best through the rest of her veterinary student career!

International Polar Bear Day highlights one of the Arctic’s most remarkable animals. Polar bears are specially adapted to life on sea ice, with thick fur, a layer of blubber, and powerful swimming abilities that allow them to travel long distances in search of food. They play an important role in the Arctic ecosystem and are considered an indicator species, meaning changes in their population can reflect changes in the health of their environment. Today is a chance to learn more about polar bears and the unique, fragile ecosystems they depend on.

We get a lot of questions at our clinic about whether vaccines can be given safely to dogs who are taking Zenrelia. The short answer is yes, it is safe. Zenrelia has an unusual safety warning based on a very small, unrealistic vaccine trial required by the drug approval process. However, subsequent studies have shown that vaccines and Zenrelia are a safe combination.

Vaccines can be safely given to dogs on Zenrelia.
