We honor the incredible courage and sacrifice of the first responders, firefighters, police officers, military members, healthcare workers, and everyday heroes who stepped forward when they were needed most.

We also remember the search-and-rescue dogs who worked tirelessly alongside their handlers, bringing comfort and hope during one of our nation’s darkest days. 🐾❤️

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

🎒📚 Back to School... What Does Your Pet Think? 🐶🐱

The backpacks are packed, the buses are rolling, and the house is suddenly... quiet.

While the kids are heading back to school, your pets may be wondering where their favorite playmates went! Some pets adjust quickly, while others may experience a little separation anxiety as the family settles into a new routine.

Here are a few ways to help your pet adjust:
🐾 Keep feeding and walking times consistent.
🧩 Provide puzzle toys or enrichment activities while you're away.
🚶 Give them some extra exercise before everyone leaves for the day.
❤️ Spend a little quality time together when you get home.

How does your pet react when school starts?

📸 Share a photo of your "back-to-school supervisor" in the comments—we'd love to see who misses their favorite humans the most!

Hi. My name is Michael!
My favorite activity is taking long walks with my momma, and the weirdest thing I do is roll, like a log, all over the bed till my hair stands up.

🌿🐾 Wellness Wednesday: Leptospirosis Awareness 🐾🌿

Summer means more time outdoors—and more opportunities for exposure to Leptospirosis (Lepto), a bacterial disease that can affect both dogs and people.

Dogs can become infected by coming into contact with contaminated water, wet soil, or wildlife urine. Even puddles, ponds, and standing water can pose a risk.

⚠️ Signs of Leptospirosis may include:
💧 Fever
🤢 Vomiting
😴 Lethargy
🥣 Loss of appetite
💛 Increased thirst or changes in urination
🩺 In severe cases, kidney or liver damage

The good news? Leptospirosis is preventable. Vaccination, along with avoiding stagnant water whenever possible, can significantly reduce your dog's risk.

At Strasburg Veterinary Health, we recommend discussing the Leptospirosis vaccine with your veterinarian—especially if your dog enjoys hiking, swimming, visits dog parks, or spends time outdoors.

Have questions about whether the Lepto vaccine is right for your dog? We're happy to help!

📞 Call us at 717-288-2926 to learn more or schedule your pet's wellness visit.

Yesterday's trivia answer: False! A dog's nose can be warm or dry and still be perfectly healthy. It's more important to watch for changes in behavior, appetite, or energy.

🐶🐱 Trivia Tuesday!

True or False?

A dog's nose should always be cold and wet to be healthy.

Soaking Up the Last Days of Summer! 🐾☀️

As summer winds down, there's still plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine with your furry best friend!

Before heading out for one last summer adventure, remember to:
💧 Bring plenty of fresh water.
🕷️ Keep your pet on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
🌳 Check for ticks after hikes, walks, or time in the yard.
🐾 Protect sensitive paw pads from hot pavement.
🏷️ Make sure your pet's ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

As routines change with the start of school and busier schedules, don't forget to make time for your pet. Whether it's an evening walk, a game of fetch, or a cozy cuddle on the couch, they'll appreciate every moment with you.

How are you and your pet spending the last days of summer? Share a photo in the comments—we'd love to see your favorite end-of-summer memories!
