🐾🐾We have an update about Winnie from her family! Below is the post from her family. She is doing well and in good spirits. What a good girl-- keep sending those healing vibes her way!!🐾

Hey everyone, sorry for the long time between updates. Winnie had her first post OP appointment today; great news, everything is healing the way they want. She'll stay on soft food for 8 weeks and no toys for another two. Her next appointment is in 7 weeks, where she will have her last surgery, hopefully. This is to remove teeth. Unfortunately, the damage was bad enough that her upper teeth never developed correctly. They will most likely remove 5 of them.

The medical staff at NC State have been the best. Her whole medical team came to see her, and it was amazing to see how much they truly care about the animals and owners.

To everyone who donated or just said they were praying for her, thank you so very much; it meant everything to our family that so many took time out of their busy lives to show genuine love!

As for the other dog owners, we have officially pressed charges. We will do everything we can to hold them accountable for not being responsible owners of a very aggressive dog. We do not hold any animosity toward either dog. NC has a one-bite rule; both dogs are on the state's dangerous animal list.

I have added pictures of her progress and photos from our neighbor's security system.

If you have questions, please feel free to reach out. I will also do my best to post updates on her progress.

This is Myke. Most days, our page is silly updates, training milestones, and puppy antics. Today is different, and it’s the kind of update every breeder dreads having to write.

Winnie, one of our 6-month-old pups from the Morningstar litter—who was slated to start her path as a scent work dog—was viciously attacked yesterday by two loose adult dogs while finishing a walk with her dad.

Her dad fought both dogs off, and thankfully her tactical vest protected her chest and ribs from severe crushing puncture wounds. But Winnie’s face took the brunt of the attack.

She came out of emergency reconstructive surgery this morning. Her upper jaw is severely damaged, and her orbital socket is shattered. Her veterinary team is currently fighting to ensure her jaw heals with proper alignment and that her vision remains intact.

Surviving surgery is only stage one. Winnie has a long, grueling road ahead:

-Follow-up scans and potential secondary surgeries
-Specialized physical therapy and pain management
-Intensive behavioral rehabilitation to help an adolescent working pup overcome trauma before severe fear and reactivity set in

Her dad shared an update earlier today:

"Please be careful and watchful around other dogs. Two dogs attacked Winnie yesterday while we were finishing our walk—an owner left a back gate open. The damage is significant: her entire upper jaw and orbital socket. She is stable, sweet, and loving even after all this. My girlfriend’s boss started a GoFundMe. Please don’t feel obligated to help; we are good. It’s been a horrible 24 hours."

That tells you everything you need to know about Winnie’s dad—even in the middle of a nightmare, his first instinct is to reassure everyone else and not impose. But catastrophic emergencies come with an overwhelming stack of specialty bills, from facial reconstruction to long-term rehabilitation. Janet and I consider every puppy we bring into this world a part of our extended family. We want to make sure Winnie gets every single resource she needs to fully recover without putting her family under immense financial strain.

If you have $5, $10, or the price of a cup of coffee to spare, please consider donating to her recovery fund. If you can’t donate, sharing this post costs nothing and helps get her story seen.

(I have attached an X-ray showing the fracture areas—avoiding graphic photos. The circle is my mark-up from talking with Janet.)

We are doing some yard work, so we have some soil delivered. Raven has decided its a perfect way to practice parkour and IGP; running up, reversing direction, jumping off and latching onto me. I gave her the toy so she stopped the "jump & grab!" 😵😂☠️
