Hazel Eisenberger
Hazel is almost one year old. Her mom is a mini schnauzer mix and her dad is a short haired chihuahua. We have had her since she was 5 weeks old! Over time, she is losing the black in her hair and becoming more of a blonde every day! She enjoys cuddling and playing with her doggy brother Dobby, and her human siblings Carter and Maddie! She also loves playing outside and tries to eat everything! Paper, acorns, sticks, mushrooms… you name it. Glad I have her on insurance!

Arthur is a 7 year old goofball. Raised from an itty bitty kitten, we weren't originally going to be getting two cats at once. But, Mr. Arthur decided he was going to come home with us, and told us so by literally falling out of his kennel and into our arms while we were looking at his brother. So, we took him home too. He has been the best cat. Although vocal (like, seriously vocal, you'd wonder if this cat knew english), he has the best personality. He is super loving, an incredibly loud purr box, and loves life. He can sometimes be naughty, like opening doors, getting into food pantries, and finding tape to chew on. But one look at that sweet face and he is instantly forgiven.

🐾❤Dixie Duncan❤🐾

Dixie is a rescued dog. She was picked up to replace our previous dog. When she was just a few years old she started having seizures. Dr. Christy helped us to deal with that. Once we got her meds right she hasn’t had a seizure for at least 10 years. I was concerned that Dixie may not live long with her seizures but Dr. Christy assured us that Dixie can have a long and happy life. Dixie was my walking companion for many years normally walking at least 2 miles a day weather permitting. Now in her golden years we have trouble walking a block but she still gets out there most every day. While she may not understand how a bed is supposed to work she always seems able to fall asleep. She was lost after my wife passed away but when it is Dixie’s time, some of her ashes will be buried over my wife.

Protecting Our Furry Friends During Ohio’s Air Quality Alert 🐾💨

With the current air quality alerts due to the Canadian wildfire smoke, it’s important to remember that if you can feel the effects of the haze, your pets likely can too! Our pets are just as susceptible to respiratory irritation from these fine smoke particles.

Here are some quick, essential tips to keep your companions safe and comfortable while air quality remains poor:

🏠 Keep It Indoors: Limit outdoor time as much as possible. For dogs, stick to brief, essential bathroom breaks only—no long walks or intense playtime until the air clears.

🪟 Seal the Indoors: Keep your windows and doors closed to prevent smoke from drifting inside. If you have an air purifier (especially with a HEPA filter) or air conditioning, now is the perfect time to run them.

💧 Stay Hydrated: Ensure your pets have constant access to fresh, clean water. Smoky, dry air can be drying to their respiratory membranes, and staying hydrated helps keep them comfortable.

👀 Watch for Warning Signs: Keep a close eye on your pets for any signs of respiratory distress, including:

Persistent coughing or gagging

Difficulty breathing (or heavy, noisy breathing)

Red, watery, or inflamed eyes

Nasal discharge

Unusual lethargy or weakness

Reduced appetite

⚠️ Extra Caution Needed: Please take extra care if you have brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds like Pugs, Bulldogs, or Persians, as well as senior pets or those with pre-existing heart or lung conditions. Birds are also extremely sensitive and should be kept indoors throughout this event.

If you notice any of these symptoms in your pet, please reach out to your veterinarian right away!

July Staff Pet of the Month
🐾❤ Penny Mellon❤🐾
Penny was found on the streets of Texas and made her way into our family almost 3 1/2 years ago. She is a scruffy girl who never stops giving kisses. Her favorite snacks are fresh vegetables just like her guinea pig sister. But, sometimes she is naughty and eats things she shouldn't, and then needs to come to work with mom. Her favorite things to do are play with her squeaky toys, and bark at anything that walks down the sidewalk when she is outside.
