This month we celebrate 9 incredible years of caring for the pets in our community and as we look back on this milestone, we wanted to share a few photos from the early days when Stockton Veterinary Hospital was still under construction and our dream was taking shape. These images remind us just how far we've come.

What began as a vision many years ago, a lot of hard work has grown into a thriving hospital filled with compassionate care, lifelong friendships, countless wagging tails, happy purrs and a team that truly loves what they do.

To our clients, patients, staff, family, friends and supporters: thank you for trusting us, believing in us and being part of this journey. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and its beloved pets.

❤️ Thank you for an amazing 9 years.

Ever heard of 3rd-hand smoke? If you have a smoker in your home, your pets are exposed to not only 2nd hand smoke but also 3rd hand smoke which is the residual compounds in ci******es, such as ni****ne, that end up residing on all the surfaces of your home such as rugs, furniture, bedding and even on your pets themselves. Cats are especially vulnerable since they groom themselves...in fact, cats that live in a smoking home are 3 times more likely to develop cancer.
If you've ever considered quitting and didn't do it for you, maybe try it for your furry friend.

So you visit us for your pet's rash, hotspot, ear infection, etc and after a diagnosis is made, we send you home with antibiotics and a follow-up appointment to recheck it. After a couple of weeks, the infection is all cleared up so it's probably fine to cancel that recheck, right? Wrong.

The infection may not be visible to you anymore and your pet may be behaving normally again BUT if the bacteria or source of the problem isn't fully cleared up, you'll be back here in no time with the same issue. That recheck appointment allows us to slide a sample under the microscope again to confirm that treatment was successful. If there's even a hint of leftover bacteria, we can extend the treatment to make sure it's fully eliminated. Moral of the story here is - keep the recheck appointment! For your pet and your wallet!

Sweet Pea's skin infection took eight weeks to resolve. Regular rechecks monitored itchiness, adjusting oral and topical meds as needed.

Ye**ty paws are one of the most common reasons dogs obsessively lick and chew their feet, especially between the toes where moisture gets trapped. The goal is simple: reduce yeast, keep the area dry and address the underlying cause.

Yeast overgrowth is usually secondary to something else such as food sensitivities, environmental allergies (grass, pollen) or even a weakened skin barrier. If it keeps coming back, we may recommend allergy management (diet trial, meds) and or prescription antifungals (topical or oral).
