The Hardest Part of Being a Breeder ❤️

Everyone loves the newborn puppies.

The tiny noses.
The little squeaks.
The puppy piles.
The sleepy cuddles.

But there is another side of raising puppies that people don’t always see.

It’s raising the tiniest puppy in the litter.
The one who isn’t doing quite as well as the others.
The one who is struggling to gain weight.
The one who may be showing signs of failure to thrive.

It’s setting alarms throughout the day—and sometimes throughout the night—to check on that puppy.

It’s weighing them again and again. Watching every feeding. Making sure they are warm. Making sure they are nursing. Giving extra support when needed. Watching their breathing. Watching their energy. Watching the scale and hoping—please, just let that number go up.

And it’s walking into the puppy room in the morning with a knot in your stomach, wondering if that tiny puppy will still be there waiting for you.

That is the part of breeding that breaks your heart.

Because sometimes, despite everything you do, despite the sleepless nights, the extra feedings, the constant monitoring, the veterinary care, and every ounce of love you can possibly give…

a puppy simply isn’t meant for this life.

And that is an incredibly difficult truth to accept.

Breeding isn’t just cute puppies and happy families. It is responsibility. It is sleepless nights. It is hard decisions. It is celebrating the ones who thrive while fighting like hell for the ones who are struggling.

And sometimes, being a breeder means loving a puppy fiercely while knowing you may have to say goodbye.

We don’t get to choose which puppies are strong enough to make it.

We can only give them every chance we possibly can. ❤️

So tonight, our little Yosemite gets another check. Another weigh-in. Another chance.

And tonight, we hope tomorrow comes with a little more strength, a little more weight, and one more day together. 🐾❤️

This is the part of breeding you don’t always see—but it is every bit as real as the joy.

Little does Yellowstone know, he's about to take his first steps and walk today 😍

It makes you swell with pride as you watch your wobbly little one finally put their feet under them to stand and take their first steps.

The weeks before were filled with practice to build the strength to stand, and one by one they are cruising around like they have always know how to walk.

The time in which they crawl and explore the world slowly has come and gone, and these little ones are off on their next grand adventure!! ✨

There is something special that happens when puppies come into the world.

The delivery is always filled with anticipation and excitement, but the unpredictability of it all makes you realize the fragility of the precious babies that are coming onto the world.

There is something truly magical about witnessing the very beginning of a life. 🤍🐾

These first days are filled with the tiniest milestones that somehow feel like the biggest moments. Watching little eyes slowly open for the first time. Seeing wobbly little bodies discover how to crawl. Watching them find their voices, their strength, and their place in the world.

And then there are the sleepy cuddles… those quiet moments when they melt into your hands, completely trusting and content, with nowhere to be except right there. 🥹

It is such an honor to be trusted with these precious lives and to witness their transformation day by day. From tiny newborns who depend on their mama for everything, to curious little puppies beginning to explore the world around them.

We never take these moments for granted. ❤️

The days are fleeting, but the memories we make during these first weeks will stay with us forever. ✨
