OSU College of Veterinary Medicine Ranch The OSU College of Veterinary Medicine Ranch is an off-site extension of the OSU Veterinary Medical We have 24 hour security and a veterinarian on call 24/7.

The CVM Ranch is located on a picturesque 640 acres with areas for stall, pen, or pasture board. Our Facilities Include:
2 barns with stalls
Palpation Barn
Foaling Barn
Collection Shed
Semen Laboratory
Medicine Laboratory
Individual stalls with runs for stallions
Round pen
Walker

Castrations will be performed by third-year veterinary students under the direct supervision of board-certified faculty veterinarians from the OSU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.

🚨 KNOW BEFORE YOU TEST 🚨

If your horse needs testing for Equine Herpesvirus (EHV), here’s what to know:

🧪 How To Collect Correct Samples:
• One deep nasal swab (synthetic or flocked swab with plastic handle; no gel-based swabs)
• One EDTA (purple-top) blood tube — minimum 2-5 mL

🧼 Biosecurity Matters:
Wear gloves, change them between horses, and disinfect hands to prevent spread.

📦 Shipping Tips:
• Keep samples cold, not frozen
• Ship overnight via UPS/FedEx for best results
• Discounted shipping labels available on the OADDL website
• Samples may be hand-delivered or placed in the after-hours drop refrigerator
