🐾 GROOMING TIP:

Brushing the top of the coat isn’t always enough..

A dog can look perfectly brushed on the outside while still having tight tangles hiding close to the skin, especially behind the ears, under the collar, in the armpits, and around the legs.

Try gently separating the coat into small sections and brushing from the skin outward. Then follow with a metal comb. If the comb cannot move through easily, there may still be tangles underneath.

Never pull hard or repeatedly brush the same sensitive spot. Tight mats can be painful, and trying to remove them at home can accidentally injure the skin.

A few gentle minutes several times a week is much easier on your dog than one giant brushing battle once the coat becomes tangled. 🤎

The emotional roller coaster this dog puts me through… 😭😂

For one terrifying second, she looks like she’s crossed the rainbow bridge.

Then suddenly…

👀 “Why are you staring at me?”

She’s perfectly fine. She’s just dramatic, deeply asleep, and apparently committed to giving me a heart attack. 🐾

Does anyone else have a dog who sleeps like they just finished a 12-hour shift?

Not everyone who “rescues” is truly fostering.

A real foster does more than move a dog from one place to another. They provide structure, decompression, training, vet care, honest behavior evaluation, and thoughtful placement.

Animal flipping looks different.

It often sounds urgent:
“Must go now.”
“Perfect dog.”
“First come, first served.”
“No issues.”
“Small rehoming fee.”

But responsible rescue does not rush a dog into the wrong home just to move them fast.

Before adopting, ask questions:

○What vet care has been done?
○What training or structure has the dog had?
○How does the dog do with kids, dogs, cats, strangers, crates, leashes, food, handling, and boundaries?
○What does the dog still need help with?
○What kind of home is actually best for this dog?

A reputable foster or adoption organization should be able to answer honestly, even when the answer is not “perfect.”

Because fostering is not just finding the next home.

It is preparing the dog for the right one.

Rescue should protect animals and adopters alike. 🐾
