Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) – Join Our Team!
Steubenville Veterinary Hospital is hiring a Licensed Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)!
We are looking for a dependable, compassionate, and skilled veterinary technician who enjoys working in a fast-paced small-animal practice and takes pride in providing excellent patient care.
Licensure is required: Applicants must be a currently licensed/registered veterinary technician and eligible to practice in Ohio.
Responsibilities & Skills
The ideal candidate should be comfortable with, or willing to confidently perform, the following:
1. Placing IV catheters in dogs and cats
2. Venipuncture/blood collection and proper sample handling
3.Endotracheal intubation and airway management
4.Preparing and monitoring patients under sedation and general anesthesia
5.Monitoring ECG, SpO₂, ETCO₂, blood pressure, temperature, and other anesthetic parameters
6.Calculating and administering medications and IV fluids as directed by the veterinarian
7.Setting up and maintaining IV fluid therapy
8.Basic veterinary dentistry, including dental charting, scaling/polishing, and familiarity with dental radiography
9.Preparing patients and the surgical suite for procedures
10.Maintaining sterile technique and assisting during surgery
11.Obtaining diagnostic radiographs with appropriate positioning and radiation safety
12.Running in-house laboratory testing, including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, f***l testing, and cytology preparation
13.Safely restraining dogs and cats using appropriate low-stress handling techniques
14.Providing hospitalized and post-operative patient care
15.Recognizing changes in patient status and promptly communicating concerns to the veterinarian
16.Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment sheets
Communicating professionally and compassionately with pet owners
17.Cleaning, maintaining, and properly using veterinary equipment
18.Ability to lift and safely handle dogs and other patients as required for routine clinical duties
19.Working effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, receptionists, and other members of the hospital team
We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized, team-oriented, detail-focused, and committed to high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care.
Position : Full time
Pay : 21$ -25$ /hr
As part of our hiring process, selected candidates may be asked to participate in a paid shadowing/working interview with our veterinary team before a final hiring decision is made and the position is formally offered. You will be compensated for your time during this period.
This allows both you and our team to determine whether the position is a good fit. During this time, we may evaluate technical skills, communication, teamwork, patient handling, ability to follow hospital protocols, efficiency, professionalism, and overall compatibility with our hospital environment.
