I need 8 pet families to help me with something new! 🐾
Many of you know that I’ve had my small business for years, primarily making dog collars and pet accessories. Over the past several months, though, I’ve been moving in a new direction that I’m really excited about — photo restoration and custom Heirloom Story Portraits created from the photographs and memories that mean the most to us.
And I need a little help practicing and building examples!
This is Aspen’s Gotcha Day portrait. ❤️Giving credit to her breeder, Judy Knobbe of Futura Golden Retrievers in Missouri, for such a beautiful and sweet-dispositioned Golden! She is sorely missed in our family.
The original photos weren’t perfect — old lighting, distracting backgrounds, and all the things that happen with real-life snapshots — but they captured something I would never want to lose: the day she became ours.
That’s what I want these portraits to preserve.
Not just what your pet looked like, but the story of who they were and how they became part of your family.
So I’m looking for the first 8 suitable submissions from friends who would let me create a Gotcha Day / Adoption Heirloom Story Portrait completely FREE while I continue developing this new service.
Dogs, cats, horses — absolutely! 🐶🐱🐴
What I need from you:
• Your pet’s name
• Their Gotcha Day/adoption date, if you know it
• A short story about the day they came into your life and what made that day special
• 2–5 photos — and please don’t worry if they aren’t perfect! Old, faded, poorly lit, or imperfect photographs may actually be wonderful examples because photo restoration is also becoming part of what I offer.
In return, I’ll create a finished digital Heirloom Story Portrait for you at no charge.
Because I’m doing this to build examples for my shop, I do need the selected families to be comfortable with me sharing the submitted photographs, portions of their story, and the finished artwork in my Etsy listing and social media.
No purchase is required, and no physical product is included, but you’ll receive the finished high-resolution digital file so you can print and enjoy your artwork for personal use (there will be no watermark, as in this example). This is genuinely free — you’re helping me practice, refine the process, and show people what I can create.
If you’d like to be one of the 8, send me a private message with your story and photos. Please don’t post precious personal photos in the comments unless you want them public. This is cross-posted on my personal page so I will update this when it's closed!
