I am so excited to be able to give an update on Shayla! She had so many adventures this summer with her amazing puppy raiser including her first marathon! All these outings and activities are important to ensure she's ready for the next step. And she is! Shayla is scheduled to go going back to NY November 10th to begin her official training (IFT). We can't wait to see how she shines! Guiding Eyes for the Blind

Every year on this day, we remember the many people we lost 25 years ago, as well as the bravery of the helpers - including guide dogs Salty and Roselle, who led their owners down more than 1,400 steps and out of the towers to safety. Both pups were later recognized with the Dickin Medal, the highest military honor for animals, often called "the animal version of the Victoria Cross." 🦮 ❤️

I need help for my sister. Please take 1 minute to vote for Reagan. Her quote from NOVA Magazine: “I wanted them to see a very strong, well-rounded athlete,” Bischoff says. “I just wanted them to see how a disability doesn’t define what you can do and who you are, because it really doesn’t.” She is currently #2 and people can vote through Thursday everyday. Please vote to help her spread her positivity! Thanks in advance!

Latte got to ride in a gondola in Vermont! He is definitely living his best life! The more experiences a puppy has, the more he will be ready for anything his handler needs from him.

So thankful for their dedication! 💕

🐾 Volunteer Spotlight 🐾

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Juli, her sister Kelle, and nieces Jennah and Bella to the Freedom Guide Dogs campus! While only Juli and Jennah are pictured here, all four spent the week learning, volunteering, and immersing themselves in our guide dog program.

Pictured with them are Juli’s two puppies she is currently training, Yuki (left) and B-Latte (right).

Juli has been a dedicated Freedom puppy raiser for many years, helping raise several puppies that have gone on to become life-changing guide dogs for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. She is currently raising both Yuki and Latte and continues to invest countless hours into preparing them for their future careers.

Beyond her role as a volunteer, Juli has an extensive professional background working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Having witnessed firsthand the incredible independence, confidence, and opportunities that guide dogs provide, she understands just how meaningful every moment spent raising these puppies truly is.

Her niece, Jennah, shares that same passion and enjoys helping with the daily care, training, and socialization of the puppies. Together, they also support many of our other puppy raisers by opening their home to puppies when volunteers travel or when a puppy can benefit from new experiences, environments, and handlers.

During their week in New York, they toured our campus, took several of our dogs on community outings, and had the opportunity to observe and work alongside our Guide Dog Mobility Instructors, gaining an even greater appreciation for the journey from puppy to working guide dog.

Volunteers like Juli, Kelle, Jennah, and Bella represent Freedom Guide Dogs in such an amazing way. Their dedication, compassion, and enthusiasm help make our mission possible, and we are incredibly grateful to have them as part of the Freedom family.

Interested in making a difference?

Whether you’d like to raise a puppy, puppy sit, help at events, volunteer around campus, or support our mission in another way, we’d love to help you find the opportunity that’s the perfect fit for you!

Together, we’re changing lives… one guide dog partnership at a time. ❤️🐾
