🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from the horse world. 🐴
601 miles today.
And somehow, after all those miles, the day still ends where most horse days do…..back at the barn. Checking on everyone, feeding, cleaning, turning horses in, and making sure everyone is happy, healthy and taken care of.
Because that’s just what we do.
Holidays. Weekends. Vacations. Early mornings. Late nights.
The horses still need us…and we show up. ❤️
We spend our lives covered in dirt, sweat, hay and probably at least one substance we’d rather not identify. 😂 We rearrange our schedules around feed times, weather, vet appointments, farriers, shows, lessons and whatever unexpected crisis decided to happen at 9:47 PM.
We drive ridiculous distances.
We wake up ridiculously early.
We spend money on horses like it’s a perfectly rational financial decision.
And yes, we complain about being exhausted… while already making plans for tomorrow. 😂
But honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Because being an equestrian isn’t just something you do. It becomes a part of who you are.
And maybe the best part of this crazy lifestyle is the people who understand it.
The ones who answer the phone when you say, “I need help.”
The ones who bring you coffee at the barn.
Who hold your horse while you deal with the vet.
Who help load, unload, catch, clean, groom, braid, haul and hold gates.
Who celebrate your victories and somehow make the hard days a little easier.
The equestrian community is a little chaotic, a little sleep-deprived, and probably held together by caffeine and duct tape…
…but when it matters, horse people show up for horse people. ❤️
So here’s to all of us who chose this life; the ones working today, the ones still at the barn tonight, and the ones who wouldn’t trade this crazy, exhausting, beautiful horse filled existence for anything.
Happy Labor Day to the people who make this lifestyle so damn worth it. 🐴❤️🇺🇸
