🐾 **WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR ANIMALS IN ERATH COUNTY?** 🐾
The Erath County Humane Society has **3 positions available on our Board of Directors** for the 2026–2027 year, and we’re looking for a few dedicated people who want to put their talents to work for a cause that matters.
This is an exciting time to become involved with ECHS. We’re looking for people who want to **help us build stronger connections within our community and have a hand in shaping the future of the Erath County Humane Society.**
Before you raise your hand, there’s something important you should know:
**We are a WORKING board.** ❤️
Our board members don’t just attend meetings and make decisions. We roll up our sleeves.
We plan fundraisers. We set up tables. We haul stuff. We sell tickets. We talk to the community. We help at events. We clean up afterward. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, we raise the money that helps keep ECHS operating and caring for animals in our community.
**What does the commitment look like?**
🐾 A minimum commitment of **October 1, 2026–September 30, 2027**, with the opportunity to continue serving beyond that year
🐾 Monthly board meetings held **the evening of the third Thursday of each month**
🐾 Participation in approximately **1–2 ECHS events per month**, many of which take place on weekends
🐾 Helping with event preparation, setup and/or teardown when needed
🐾 Helping strengthen ECHS’s relationship with our community and contributing ideas that will help guide the organization into the future
🐾 Bringing your ideas, experience and willingness to jump in and help
We’re especially interested in applicants who have skills or experience that could strengthen our organization—such as **communications, marketing, fundraising, event planning, financial management, nonprofit experience, community outreach, business experience or leadership.**
**Leadership skills are helpful, but they are not required.** You don’t have to be an expert in everything, and you don’t need previous board experience. We’re looking for people who have something to contribute and are willing to use it.
All board positions are **volunteer and unpaid**.
Submitting your name does not automatically place you on the board. Interested candidates will complete an application and participate in an interview with the current Board of Directors. New members will then be selected by board vote.
Yes, it takes time.
Yes, sometimes it takes a Saturday.
And yes, sometimes you may find yourself doing something you definitely didn’t picture when you heard the words “Board of Directors.” 😂
But you’ll also have the opportunity to **help build community, help shape the future of ECHS, and see firsthand what can happen when people combine their talents, connections and hard work to make life better for animals who need us.**
**Interested? We’d love to hear from you.** 🐾❤️
