š¾ ANGEL WINGS DOG SANCTUARY ADOPTION POLICIES š¾
We want everyone interested in adopting from us to have a clear understanding of our basic policies before applying. Please take a moment to read through them. These policies help us remain consistent and, most importantly, protect the animals entrusted to our care. ā¤ļø
š¾ APPLICATIONS & APPROVALS
Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or guarantee a specific animal. Applications are considered in the order they are received. If an applicant is denied, withdraws, or does not complete the adoption process, we move to the next appropriate applicant.
We reserve the right to approve or deny any application based on our requirements and what we believe is an appropriate placement for that animal.
A personal connection with anyone associated with the rescue does not give an applicant priority or create an exception to our policies.
š¾ NO HOLDS
We do not hold animals for vacations, moving dates, work schedules, or other personal circumstances.
Submitting an application, discussing an animal, or discussing a possible pickup date does not mean an animal is being held or that an adoption has been finalized.
š¾ SPAY/NEUTER REQUIREMENT
Animals adopted through our rescue are required to be spayed or neutered by six months of age.
If an animal is adopted before six months, the adoption contract will provide a specific deadline for the procedure, and veterinary verification must be submitted to us afterward.
Extensions will only be considered when there is a medical reason and our rescue veterinarian determines that delaying the procedure is medically necessary.
š¾ FOSTER-TO-ADOPT
Fostering an animal with the possibility of adopting does not guarantee adoption approval. Until an adoption is officially finalized, the animal remains under the care and responsibility of Angel Wings Dog Sanctuary and all rescue policies continue to apply.
š¾ FOSTER ANIMALS & VETERINARY CARE
Foster animals remain under our care. Veterinary appointments, elective procedures, boarding arrangements, or other significant decisions involving a foster animal must be approved by the rescue beforehand, except in a true emergency.
š¾ HOUSEHOLD & EXISTING PETS
We may ask about other pets, household members, living arrangements, landlord approval when applicable, and other information necessary to determine whether an animal is an appropriate fit.
Meet-and-greets with household members or existing animals may also be required.
š¾ EVERY ANIMAL IS DIFFERENT
Not every home will be the right home for every animal. Some animals may have additional requirements based on age, temperament, medical needs, history, other animals, children, or other individual circumstances.
Being denied for one animal does not necessarily mean you would not be considered for another.
š¾ HONEST & COMPLETE APPLICATIONS
All information provided on an adoption application must be truthful and complete. False, misleading, or intentionally omitted information may result in an application being denied or an adoption being canceled before completion.
š¾ IF YOU CAN NO LONGER KEEP AN ADOPTED ANIMAL
Please contact Angel Wings Dog Sanctuary before rehoming, selling, giving away, or surrendering an animal adopted from us.
Because we rely on volunteer foster homes, we cannot guarantee that we will have an immediate foster placement available, but we need to be contacted so we can determine the appropriate next steps.
š¾ WHEN IS AN ADOPTION FINAL?
An application, conversation, possible pickup date, or foster arrangement does not constitute a finalized adoption.
An adoption is final only after approval has been given, all rescue requirements have been met, the adoption contract has been completed, and the adoption process has been finalized.
ā¤ļø Our policies are not meant to make adoption difficult. They are in place because every animal that enters our care becomes our responsibility. Our job is not simply to find them a homeāit is to do our best to find them a safe, appropriate, permanent home.
We appreciate everyone who respects our process, our volunteers, and the responsibility we have to these animals. š¾ā¤ļø
