This.
This is the dog that I want to provide you.
Yes, his nose is big.
Yes! He is rather large himself.
No, he didn’t go get titles. I regret I didn’t haul him out and compete with him.
But he was the best friend for a 19 year old girl.
He was a constant solid through 3 college degrees. We hit up barrel races, traveled the country. He has lived every loss, every heartbreak, every up and down with me.
He started alerting to low blood sugar levels on his own as a puppy. I’m hypoglycemic and he figured out that something was WRONG with mom at a young age. He’d tell me- tell everyone- climbed out of 12 foot stall walls to go get me help.
He’s started in his older age to alert to heart rates- not just mine. Our horse boarding clients, my husbands, mine.
This dog has had my back with hateful bulls, helping me catch our stock, and even though he’s 13 and not allowed to engage at all with the bulls anymore- I won’t put out hay or grain- nor walk through our pastures without him with me.
He’s slept in hotel rooms, took 24 hour straight road trips in big rigs, jumped off bridges into creeks and lakes, lived a life most dogs just get to dream of.
I trust this dog with my life. He’s saved me more times than I deserved saved.
So yes, he may not have the title in front of his name but his legacy- the legacy of Flintstone has touched many people.
At 13 years old- there’s no hitch in his giddy up. He’s SOUND moving. He still jumps things he’s not supposed to for fun. He’s too smart for his own good. He opens doors, windows. He’s smart and biddable. He’s one of the healthiest dogs I’ve ever met. His genetic panel shows him as a carrier of MDR1- clear otherwise. Trainable isn’t even the word.
Flint has puppies that have done service work and in performance homes all over the country.
I am thankful for every day with him. I’m thankful for every single puppy that he’s produced and the bloodline he has created. But I’m more thankful for my best friend.
