🌸 Shih Tzu Legend: The Little Lion Dog 🦁🐾

There is a beautiful Buddhist legend that tells of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, traveling with a tiny little dog by his side.

But this was no ordinary little dog. ❤️

According to the legend, whenever Manjushri was threatened or needed protection, his tiny companion could transform into a mighty lion large enough for Manjushri to ride upon.

Then, when the danger had passed, the great lion would return to being his little canine companion. 🐶

Stories like this helped give the small lion-like dogs of Tibet and China a very special place in Buddhist tradition—and the Shih Tzu’s name itself means “Lion Dog.”

I think it’s such a perfect legend for a Shih Tzu.

Tiny body.
Big heart.
Absolutely convinced there’s a lion in there somewhere. 🦁😂

🐾 COME PLAY WITH THE PUPPIES! 🐾

This Sunday, August 30th. Magnolia Small Breeds is opening up a few appointments to come meet, cuddle, and play with our available puppies! 🥰🐶

I don’t normally allow puppy visits while our babies are still little, because protecting their health is always my first priority. But with a few simple puppy-safe hygiene precautions, I’m happy to give families the opportunity to meet the puppies in person—and maybe even let a puppy pick you. 💕

If you’ve been thinking about adding a Magnolia baby to your family, this is a wonderful chance to spend some time with them, see their little personalities, and find the one that feels just right.
