It’s National Estate Planning Awareness Week!

You don’t have to be wealthy. You don’t have to own a house. You don’t even have to stop buying things for your pet. You just have to make a plan.

You can create a legally valid will online for free through FreeWill and make a plan for the people, pets, and causes you care about. It’s easy to use and takes just 20 minutes.

FreeWill even helps you document who you want to care for your pets, because “my sister knows she gets the dog” isn’t much of a plan.

ACC is a proud FreeWill partner, and if you choose, you can leave a gift that gives shelter animals a second chance for years to come.

Start your free will here: nycacc.org/freewill

Every ACC location is extremely overcrowded. Every single kennel is full, so our adoptable dogs are staying wherever we can safely make space for them, including hallways, staff offices, grooming rooms, and other areas in the shelter.

We obviously don’t think a pop-up crate is an ideal place for any dog to spend their time, and we don’t want these dogs staying in temporary spaces any longer than they have to. That’s why we have our special pop-up crate promotion to help these dogs get out of the shelter and into loving homes!

Dogs staying in pop-up crates have waived adoption fees, and their adopters will also receive a $50 Chewy gift card!

When you adopt one, you’re not only changing their life, you’re also helping us make room for the next dog who needs a safe place to land.

Visit nycacc.app to meet all of our amazing adoptable dogs. All pop-up crate dogs will have a special sign in their profile picture.

Let’s celebrate some of our Boroughbreds who have recently found their furever homes. 🐶🐱🐰🐹

🌧️ Happy Foster Friday! ☔

On this rainy day, we’re sharing some of our foster dogs enjoying the cozy life of a foster home! From snuggling up indoors to relaxing in a warm, loving space, these pups are showing us that rainy days are made for comfort, cuddles, and a little extra TLC.

Foster homes give shelter dogs a much-needed break from the busy shelter environment, allowing them to unwind, recharge, and let their unique personalities shine. Even a short stay in a cozy home can make a world of difference for a pup in need!

Whether you can foster for a weekend, a few weeks, or longer, you can help a dog feel safe, loved, and right at home. Who knows? Your perfect rainy-day cuddle buddy might be waiting for you!

Interested in fostering? Join us for an upcoming foster orientation on Sunday, October 25th, and learn how you can make a difference!
