BRUNO 267713/LOW RIDER LOVE/NH RESCUE NEEDED/NYCACC/SIACC
Bruno is an approximately 4-year-old low rider with an adorable face and a lot of personality. He is a social, affectionate, and playful guy who enjoys being around people, though he prefers affection on his own terms. Bruno is an active dog who enjoys his daily walks and spending time with his people.
He can become easily overaroused, so he would do best with an experienced adopter who understands canine behavior and is comfortable working with dogs who need help managing their excitement.
Bruno will also need medical follow-up care, and his future foster or adopter should be prepared to work with a veterinarian to address his ongoing medical needs. https://nycacc.app/browse/267713

CHAMP 268575/ONE OF A KIND/ ADOPTABLE DOG/NYCACC/SIACC
Champ is a very handsome boy with a sweet side that’s starting to shine! He’s been warming up nicely with shelter staff and showing us what a good boy he can be.
In his previous home, Champ lived with children, another dog, and a cat. While this is helpful history, slow, thoughtful introductions to any resident pets will be important to help everyone feel comfortable during the transition.
Champ is looking for a loving home where he can settle in at his own pace, build trust, and enjoy being part of a family again. Could Champ be the new best friend you’ve been looking for? Come meet this handsome guy!

NEEDS EMERGENCY PLACEMENT/SMOKEY 253741/NH RESCUE NEEDED/OUR LONGEST STAY/PAID HIS DUES
Smokey is at risk for behavior reasons. Smokey was initially teartul on intake but warmed up with a considerate approach. He loves to play with toys but has shown moderate resource guarding. Smokey had an incident where he became over aroused with play and bit a staff member’s sweater causing it to tear. He had to be slowed down and given some time to recover. Smokey has been in care since early May. Medically, he is apparently healthy.
Smokey is looking for a calm, patient home that will give him the time and space he needs to settle in and build trust at his own pace. Smokey was initially fearful after arriving to the care center back in May.
He warmed up quickly with a considerate approach, and quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite.
Smokey LOVES toys - they’re extra special to him!
Because of this, he should be allowed to enjoy them peacefully without being disturbed. Smokey should be interacted with in a calm manner to avoid any over arousal. After many months in care, he is starting to deteriorate and will require a decompression period.
This shy guy may need a little extra time, but for the right person, watching Smokey grow in confidence will be incredibly rewarding. https://nycacc.app/browse/253741

MARILYN 264384/READY FOR A HOME/ADOPTABLE DOG/NYCACC/SIACC
Meet Marilyn, a sweet medium-sized girl who just needs a little time and patience to show you her wonderful personality! When Marilyn first arrived at the care center, she was very fearful and needed time to feel safe and build trust with staff. She spent her first few days socializing indoors before she felt comfortable enough to venture out into the yard.
Since then, Marilyn has made wonderful progress and is now enjoying walks outside! As she has grown more comfortable, more of her personality has begun to shine through, including her love for being close to people and sitting right in their laps.
Marilyn has shown that with patience, understanding, and a little time, she can learn to trust and let her affectionate side shine. She will do best with an experienced owner who understands that she may need additional time to adjust to a new home and settle into her surroundings at her own pace. In return, Marilyn has the potential to become a loving and devoted companion. If you have a gentle heart and are willing to give her the time she needs to feel safe, Marilyn could be the perfect friend for you!

C***R 267997/WARMING UP/NH RESCUE NEEDED/NYCACC/SIACC
C***r is a sensitive boy who is still learning that he can feel safe and secure around people. He came to us as a stray, so we don’t have any information about his past or previous home life. The shelter environment has been overwhelming for him, and he has shown a great deal of fear while in our care.
The good news is that C***r is making progress! He has slowly begun warming up to select staff members, is allowing minimal handling, and seems to be gaining confidence a little more each day.
These small steps are meaningful milestones for a dog who is still learning to trust.
C***r will need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to give him the time and space he needs to adjust at his own pace. A calm environment, a predictable routine, and a gentle approach will be important as he continues building confidence. C***r is still finding his footing, but with patience and compassion, we hope to see him continue to blossom into a more comfortable and confident companion. https://nycacc.app/browse/267997

WALTER 75060/ADOPTABLE SENIOR BOY/NYCACC/SIACC
Meet Walter, a 9-year-old gentleman looking for a special person to give him the love and care he deserves! Walter is currently dealing with a skin condition that leaves him feeling uncomfortable, but he remains tolerant of gentle touch. This sweet senior boy will need an understanding and compassionate adopter who is willing to look beyond his current challenges and give him the patience, care, and support he needs to feel his best. Walter may need a little extra TLC, but he deserves the chance to enjoy his golden years surrounded by comfort, kindness, and love. He is looking for a special home with someone who understands that caring for a dog with medical needs takes commitment and patience. If you have room in your heart for a senior pup who needs someone in his corner, Walter may be the companion you’ve been waiting for!

SAMMIE 266431/ADOPTABLE DOG/NYCACC/SIACC
Meet Sammie, a sweet 13-year-old girl who is looking for a loving home to spend her golden years!
Sammie is a super friendly and affectionate companion who loves being around people and soaking up attention. She is happiest wherever her people are, whether that’s hanging out in the kitchen, relaxing in the living room, or cuddling up on the couch. Sammie knows “sit,” enjoys playing catch, and absolutely loves car rides! She is also comfortable being bathed and brushed by her family.
Sammie would love a home where she can enjoy plenty of companionship, affection, and cozy days by your side. Her previous family shared that she loves attention and will even cry for extra love and quality time. At 13 years old, Sammie still has so much love to give and is hoping to find a family who will cherish her and make her feel loved and secure.
Could Sammie be the perfect addition to your home? https://nycacc.app/browse/266431

NEEDS EMERGENCY PLACEMENT/WASABI 264444/NYCACC/SIACC
Wasabi is a friendly, social boy who loves attention and is happy to come over for pets! He walks nicely on leash with only mild pulling and tends to ignore other people and dogs while out and about. He’s comfortable with handling and enjoys playing with his toys.
This big, silly guy has lots of energy and will thrive with plenty of exercise, mental enrichment, fun chew toys, and continued positive, reward-based training.
Wasabi can get a little excited and jumpy, and he may become anxious or destructive when left alone, so he’s looking for a patient adopter who can help him learn and feel secure.
Wasabi is recommended for a home without children under 13. With structure, patience, and lots of love, this playful pup is ready to find his forever home!
Hi there! My name is Wasabi and I’ve been at the Staten Island ACC since September (yes, you read that right)! I arrived as a stray so the staff don’t know what my life was like before coming to ACC, but I had various injuries that I’m recovering from really well. I only require a little extra paperwork to be filled out and a few extra vet visits this year because one of my injuries was likely a bite wound (now fully healed). I’m thankful for everyone at ACC taking such good care of me, but I think I’d like to find my forever home now. So what are you waiting for? Ask about me today!

SEVYN 267583/TRYING TO WARM UP/NH RESCUE NEEDED/NYCACC/SIACC
Sevyn is a sensitive girl who needs time, patience, and understanding to feel safe with new people. She is currently experiencing significant fear in the shelter environment and is not yet comfortable with handling. Her previous owners shared that Sevyn takes time to warm up to unfamiliar people, and the stress of her current surroundings is making it especially difficult for her to settle in.
Once Sevyn feels safe and builds trust, her previous owner describes her as extremely loyal, caring, and very smart. Sevyn will need a patient,
compassionate adopter who understands that trust cannot be rushed. Giving her space, respecting her boundaries, and allowing her to approach on her own terms will be essential to helping her feel
secure. https://nycacc.app/browse/267583

S’MORE 267534/ADOPTABLE PUP/NYCACC/SIACC
S’more’s story didn’t start out very sweet. She was found tied to a tree, and the shelter environment has been a scary place for this sensitive girl. She’s very fearful right now, but with a slow, gentle, and considerate approach, S’more is beginning to let he guard down and warm up to the people around her.
S’more will need a patient, understanding adopter who can give her the time and space she needs to feel safe. She may not be the kind of girl who rushes into your arms right away, but with kindness, consistency, and a little extra love, she has the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion.
Her ideal home will be one where she can decompress at her own pace and discover that the world can be a kind place after all. https://nycacc.app/browse/267534
