PLEASE HELP TODAY - The Standardbred Retirement Foundation is trying to SAVE 23 trotters that are in the kill pen. They have a donor that has given $22,000 and they need to match it by 10 p.m. tonight to save all 23 horses. They still need $10,500 today to save them all. Please consider making even a $10 donation. Here is the link.

Horses that recover well may be retrained and placed in adoptive homes. Others, due to age or medical condition, will require lifelong sanctuary. SRF currently provides care for nearly 500 horses and does not have the financial capacity to absorb these additional cases without external support. Since the beginning of 2026, SRF has intervened to save more than 120 Standardbreds from slaughter; however, the scale and urgency of this situation exceed its current resources.
It is important to note that there are no government grants available for this effort, and organizations such as the United States Trotting Association and the ASPCA do not provide funding for horses in slaughter pipelines.
IMPORTANT: Less than 3% of philanthropic support in the US is earmarked for animals. When breaking that down, the number of people sensitive to the lives of these hard-working animals is further reduced.
(If by check kindly email us so we know, this will still give us the ability to save these horses in time, or contact Dana at 609-738-3255. [email protected])
