Muckabout Farms is thrilled to announce the birth of our first lambs!
These 2 beautiful white ram lambs are 50/50 Dorset and Katahdin.
Their momma Poppy needed a little assistance with both, but she has done a fantastic job of cleaning and nursing them already. ❤️
Names to follow soon!

Dear rescues,
With these huge numbers and overwhelming overhead costs, have you considered culling and donating the meat to families who need it? All that money you beg people for could feed children. USDA certified plants can process and donate to food banks.

I don’t understand why people want to rescue just about anything. Some animals should just be eaten. Not every animal will make a good pet. Breeders don’t even have 182 rabbits normally 😳. That’s an insane number of what? House ornaments?

Have you considered the fact that temperament is genetic? How about their health? That’s also genetic. I see so many issues that would be a cull for me, in rescues, begging for 1000s of dollars. Cull weak animals and donate them to people, zoos or wildlife rehabilitation centers. They deserve the help. Not a massive rabbit hoarding operation. Because, that’s what you are, a hoarder.

Sincerely,
A rabbit breeder with 13 breeding rabbits, 1 potential hold-back for breeding, and 1 litter of 6 meat grow-outs.

💥Hatching egg updates💥

~~Once fertility has been tested and confirmed, I will begin posting small lots of purebred Wheaten Marans hatching eggs. 36🪶/dz

~~This spring, I will be offering F1 Wheaten olive egger hatching eggs. These are beautiful blue eggs laid by purebred Blue Wheaten Ameracauna hens, under a tested purebred Wheaten Marans cockbird. The olive egg pictured here is from a daughter of that pen hatched last summer. Pullets hatched from this pen will lay olive and all resulting chicks will be either Wheaten or Blue Wheaten. They will likely have small beards, pea combs, and sparsely feathered legs. 36🪶/dz

~~Late summer this year, I hope to begin offering BC1 Wheaten olive egger hatching eggs (provided they have reached suitable size). These eggs are a beautiful olive color and can produce pullets of which 50% will be dark chocolate layers, and 50% dark olive layers. All resulting chicks will be Wheaten or blue wheaten. 36🪶/dz

~~Late summer this year, I hope to begin offering BC1 Wheaten spearmint egger hatching eggs (provided thy have reached suitable size). These eggs are a beautiful olive color and can produce pullets which lay a variety of greens and blue greens, as they will inherit blue egg genes from both parents and a brown egg gene from their mother. All resulting chicks will be Wheaten or Blue Wheaten. 36🪶/dz

~~Purebred Wheaten Ameracauna hatching eggs from a W/BW/SW pen will be available this spring.
I have a Wheaten and a Blue Wheaten rooster in a pen with Wheaten and Blue Wheaten hens. Genetically, this means the pen can throw Wheaten, Blue Wheaten, and *Splash* Wheaten chicks.
If you wish to place an order but you do not wish to hatch Splash Wheaten or Blue Wheaten chicks, I have the ability to sequester a breeding group of only a Wheaten cockbird and Wheaten/Blue Wheaten hens depending on your wants-however I will require a 30 day lead time and then a few days to collect eggs after the month is up to assure that the correct rooster is sire to any chicks. 30🪶/dz

~~I have several white leghorn hens in my Ameracauna pen to lay eggs for us to eat rather than sell or hatch, but if someone should be interested in some sky blue egger (white birds with beards, clean legs, an occasional colored feather, and a variety of comb styles) hatching eggs, I'd be happy to part with their eggs for hatching or hatch some to order as well. These eggs are 6🪶/dz.

Olive egger and sky blue egger cockrell chicks and young roosters off heat will almost always be available at a serious discount. The younger you take them, the cheaper they'll be.
I tend to retain my unsold purebred roosters until they pop up with a DQ or cull worthy trait, and then those remaining until they are fully mature, to evaluate them as future breeders. If you're looking for a purebred rooster that meets the breed standard, please check back in late fall 2026 for availability.

Tulip, our recently acquired New Zealand doe, has settled in nicely. Complete with carcass-time death naps that scare me to death every time I see her splayed across the cage wire.
Watch through to the end to see her adorable wake and stretch ❤️

We had 4 litters born yesterday, but unfortunately 3 of the litters were born to first time mothers who were not prepared for motherhood. One litter of chin rex made it after a brief re-heat in my incubator, so they're with my experienced doe. The other 3 does were re-bred for another go before the weather gets hot.
