Congratulations to Morgan Bock and Maple Ridge Lake Texoma! They received 1st Place Mini Rex Sr Buck out of 15 at the Minnesota State Fair 4H show yesterday. And were in the Top 4 of the breed receiving a purple ribbon!

A few weeks ago during their county fair, they won 1st Place in the 4 Class Senior Bucks and 9th in the state fair lineup during the 4H division. And during the open class division, he took Reserve Mini Rex, only losing to the doe that eventually won Best in Show due to him being in between coats.

Congratulations again Morgan, on your success this show season!

Here’s a little throwback Thursday from 2016 when I picked up a purple ribbon with Rum River’s Venom and 4th out of 101 in senior showmanship. Hard to believe that was 10 years ago already!

🐇 Exciting Rabbit DNA Update! 🧬💜

The rabbit dilute gene test is now mostly functional, and I am sooo excited!

It is currently working for:

✨ Satin
✨ Havana
✨ Silver Fox
✨ Netherland Dwarf

I am now looking for a limited number of samples from other breeds to help verify the test further. Testing during this verification stage will be completely free.

I will begin by accepting breeders who can provide both known and unknown samples from the same breed. I need rabbits with a confirmed dilute status first, such as a visually dilute rabbit or a proven carrier, so I can verify that the test works correctly for that breed. Once the known samples are confirmed, I can also test unknown rabbits from that breed to help determine their dilute status.

Please let me know what breed you have, the colors of the rabbits, and how the known rabbits have been verified through color or breeding. 🐰💜

We had a fun weekend trip to Fort Worth, Texas, for the Mini Rex Nationals. The weather was hot and humid, but we still had a great time! Last year, I didn’t have the best luck breeding for Nationals, but considering I only showed two of my homebred animals, I’m very happy with their placements!

She was the ONLY non-black in the top 1/2 of her class! Congratulations to her new owner!

I’m excited to redo the cross of Spell because her mom, Genie, wasn’t producing enough milk. So, I drove all the way to Wisconsin Rapids to Allyse Sullivan’s house to have her to foster three babies. Fortunately, Spell was the only one who made it. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Allyse for her incredible help in saving Spell!

Also, a special congratulations to the Ballingers for Best of Breed with a pretty otter doe. I was happy to hear their breed doe went back to a doe I bred!
