Still Pond Farm Stables

Still Pond Farm Stables Horse Boarding, Trail Riding, Cottage Rental & Barn Cat Haven in the Blue Ridge Foothills Four large paddocks with stunning mountain vistas grace the farm.

Still Pond Farm Stables is nestled in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Stanardsville, Virginia. We are a retirement/trail riding farm located 20 minutes from Charlottesville, VA, and the Blue Ridge Equine Clinic. Designed by the famous landscape architects Wolfgang Oehme and James van Sweden, the farm and its paddocks are built to harmonize with nature while wooded horse trails

frame the circumference of the property. Paddocks include automatic waterers, spacious run-in sheds, and are outlined by trees providing a cool canopy of shade in the hot Virginia summer days. Two dry lots are shaded from the sun. Our barn includes a heated tack room, hot/cold indoor wash bay, and an outdoor wash bay. Small round pen, and a 60ft round pen available to exercise your horse, and nicely shaded from the summer sun. All boarders have access to well-maintained trails. Built to exercise your horse or for a light stroll, our trails vary in length and terrain. Creeks, pastures, meadows, ponds, and the Blue Ridge Mountains are a few of the sites to experience while riding our trails. Our mission at Still Pond Farm Stables is to provide a fun, relaxing, and safe atmosphere for our boarders and their horses. For more information, please contact us at [email protected].

We were honored to be recognized as one of the top fans of The Greene County Animal Shelter of Virginia ❤️🐾

As many of you know, we recently began donating some of Abby’s favorite enrichment toys and supplies to help active, energetic shelter dogs waiting for homes.

When possible, please consider adoption. Some of the most energetic, intelligent, and emotionally rewarding dogs are simply waiting for the right person to understand them.

The growth, connection, and love that comes from these dogs can truly change your life. 🐕 ♥️

❤️ In memory of our high-energy, sport dog Abby, we’re beginning to donate some of her favorite supplies to The Greene County Animal Shelter of Virginia— and we’d love to help collect more for the active, energetic dogs waiting for homes.

The shelter especially asked for KONG-style toys that can be filled with peanut butter or treats for enrichment and calming. Abby used these daily throughout her life, and they became one of the best tools for keeping her active mind engaged and comforted.

These types of toys not only help relieve energy and reduce stress, but also encourage positive interaction, bonding, affection, and confidence.

Right now, we are specifically collecting:
• KONG treat-fillable enrichment toys of all sizes
• Durable treat-fillable enrichment toys
• Heavy-duty chew toys for medium and large dogs

Abby was happiest when she had something to do, something to carry, or a reason to play — and helping other dogs like her feels like the right way to honor her spirit.

If you’d like to donate, send us a message through the page. We’ll gladly coordinate drop-offs and future shelter runs. You can also drop off directly at The Greene County Animal Shelter of Virginia.

Abby says thank you! ❤️🐾

🐾 Introducing: Barn Cat Corner at Still Pond Farm! 🐾

We’ve created a new space on our website to celebrate the heart and whiskers of our farm—our barn cats. 💛

Barn Cat Corner is all about:
✨ Tips for caring for outdoor & feral cats
📍 Local vet and vaccine resources (Greene, Albemarle & beyond)
🤝 Building a community for those of us “chosen” by these independent souls

We’re still growing the page and working on sharing all of our cats’ stories—but it’s already full of helpful info and heartfelt support for anyone navigating life with barn cats.

Whether you care for one or a whole colony—or just love a good tail (er, tale)—come take a look.

FIELD BOARD IS AVAILABLE. A fun-loving 15-year old Tennessee Walker gelding and a very inquisitive 16-year old Quarter Horse gelding are in search of one or two field board easy-keepers to join their gang.

Our back paddock has plenty of lush grass, a 45-foot spacious run-in shed, a heated waterer, newly reinforced oak fencing, hills to keep your horse exercised, and regular non-alcoholic happy hours with the farm's barn cats as the paddock backs up to the main resident's backyard. Early evening seems to be the time all of the animals gather. A few apples and carrots may be handed out from time to time as well.

Email [email protected] or visit https://stillpondfarmstables.com/ for boarding information. Discounts are available for multiples.
