Canine Karma Training has a truly unique approach to dog training. For almost a decade our one-of-a-kind system has changed tens of thousands of lives around the world. Our program is focused on the relationship between the dog and owner, because relationship is EVERYTHING. "Relationship dictates behavior and obedience, not repetition." Whether or not your dog listens to you or behaves for you is

heavily based on the relationship that you have with them. Despite mainstream dog training beliefs and practices, you don't get an "obedient" dog from endless hours of working on basic commands (sit, down, come). Obedience is based on the relationship between the one giving the command and the one receiving it. If you do not have an appropriate relationship, you will only have "control" over your dog when you have food in one hand and a leash in the other. We are Reward-Based, Balanced Trainers and do not employ old-school, out-dated methods like Alpha/Dominance Theory, heavy compulsion, or training with fear/intimidation. Our focus is on educating our students to create a much more knowledgable and capable owner. We want you to understand WHY you're doing what you're doing, not just HOW to do it. The relationship we build for you provides a dramatically easier, well-behaved, and obedient dog, that you'll enjoy for the rest of their life.

Took to his vet today for a quick training field trip! Since their vet is local to us, I wanted to get him in there at least once to have a fun, easy, and quick experience at the vet that didn’t involve any pokes or stress! Most of the time, dogs visit the vet when they are injured or ill, which makes it a pretty stressful place. When you have a dog who is projected to be 250 lbs, you NEED them to be calm and comfortable in these environments. Quick, consistent visits like this can help ensure that the vets office isn’t a scary place! As their owners continue to make these trips with him, we can be sure that we are doing everything within our power to make vet visits easy on the doctor, the staff, the owners, and of course, the dog himself!

Results aren’t always flashy…

Sometimes dogs come to us because their owners just want a really well trained dog or a dog that they can take everywhere with them, but a lot of the dogs that we get for training have deep rooted problems. It’s our job to get to the bottom of them and eliminate the conflict that they’re experiencing at home. We aren’t just here for focused heels or fun tricks. We’re here to help dogs live a more comfortable life.

We often consider our dogs as part of the family. However, when it comes to car journeys, the safety of our pets and ourselves can be at risk if we don’t follow proper precautions.

1. Unrestrained dogs in cars are a risk not just to themselves but also to all passengers. A survey conducted by the AAA found that nearly 60% of respondents have driven with their dog at least once a month over the past year, yet they do not use any pet restraint. This increases the risk of accidents, as an unrestrained dog can be a significant distraction.

2. In an accident at just 25 mph, an unrestrained dog can exert an impact force of up to 40 times its weight. This means a 10-pound dog can hit a person or part of the car with a force of 400 pounds, risking severe injuries or even fatalities.

3. Distraction is a major factor. According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 65% of dog owners admit to engaging in at least one potentially distracting activity while driving with their dog. These activities range from petting their dog, allowing them to sit on their lap, or even giving them food or water while driving.

No, I’m not a professional groomer. If you are, please roast me in the comments. But while I’m not a professional groomer, I’ve been training dogs for a long time, and every single board and train that has ever walked through our doors has required some sort of grooming. Along the years, I’ve accumulated a lot of very helpful tips that I’ve learned from experience or learned from other professional groomers.

One of the biggest mistakes we see is taking a dog straight to a busy store, park, or public outing without first preparing them for the car ride.

For many dogs, the stress starts way before they ever reach their destination.

If your dog is anxious loading into the vehicle, pacing, whining, barking, panting, or unable to settle during travel, they’re already beginning the outing in an elevated state of mind. That stress doesn’t magically disappear when you arrive. It often carries over into their training, making it harder for them to focus, learn, and make good decisions.

Before worrying about how your dog behaves in public, make sure they can:

✔ Load into the vehicle calmly
✔ Ride safely and comfortably
✔ Settle during travel
✔ Arrive in a clear, balanced state of mind

A successful field trip starts before the car ever leaves the driveway.
