Pablo has been with us for over 4 MONTHS, and our hearts are breaking for him.

His life changed in an instant when Animal Control picked him up and his owner was unable to reclaim him. Suddenly, the life he knew was gone. He came to us confused, frustrated, and struggling to understand why he couldn’t zoom around the yards whenever he wanted. More than anything, this sweet boy desperately wants to be with PEOPLE.

These last four months have been incredibly hard for Pablo. The stress of shelter life is taking a toll, and he is rapidly deteriorating. We need to find him a way out of the shelter and into a home where he can finally exhale.

🐾 WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT PABLO:

💕 He LOVES hard. When Pablo loves you, he loves you with his whole heart.

🏃‍♂️ He would make an amazing hiking or running buddy! Looking for a partner to help you get outside and stay active? Pablo promises to keep you moving!

🧠 He is an incredibly intelligent boy who has so much potential. We aren’t sure if he’s potty trained after spending so long in a kennel environment, but we believe he can learn with consistency and patience.

👶 He’s met small children and was interested in saying hello! He doesn’t always realize his own size, so respectful introductions and supervision will be important.

🐕 WHAT ABOUT OTHER ANIMALS?

This is where we need to be honest. Pablo is experiencing such a high level of stress in the shelter that we have not introduced him to other animals. We don’t believe we would be seeing the best version of him right now, and we don’t want to make assumptions about how he might do in a calmer environment.

If you’re interested in Pablo but have another dog or cat, we encourage you to talk with us! A period of separation to decompress, establish a predictable routine, and settle into his new home before attempting slow, safe introductions may be an option. We can walk you through the process and recommend some fantastic trainers to help you along the way.

💉 He is up to date on his vaccines.
📍 He is microchipped.

We absolutely ADORE Pablo. We see his intelligence, his heart, and the incredible dog we know is in there beneath all the stress. He deserves the chance to show someone who he really is outside of a kennel.

We know the right person is out there. Maybe it’s someone who loves long hikes, someone who wants a running partner, or someone who simply has the patience to help a wonderful dog find his footing again.

We truly cannot believe this incredible girl is still with us! Sweet 5-year-old Madonna came to us as a stray, and now she’s ready to find the family she deserves. 🐾

Madonna has been spayed, thanks to our wonderful friends at Summit Veterinary Care, and is up to date on her vaccines.

Recently, Madonna enjoyed a sleepover, and her foster couldn’t say enough amazing things about her! She instantly made herself at home and was absolutely wonderful with the two little ones in the household, ages 3 years and 10 months. She is even potty trained!

Madonna has also made quite a few canine friends here at the shelter, and she would LOVE a home with another dog to be her buddy! Cats, on the other hand, might be a little too much fun to chase, so a feline-free home would likely be best.

This girl has so much love to give, and we would love nothing more than to see her walk out those doors with a family of her own. Could that family be yours? ❤️

Tundra is just ONE of the over 50 cats and kittens looking for homes with us right now!

This handsome 6-month-old boy is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and ready to find a family of his very own.

Shelter life can be a little overwhelming for Tundra, but underneath that uncertainty is a sweet boy who loves cuddles, pets, and spending time with his people. He also seems to enjoy the company of other kitties!

There’s just one little problem… Tundra seems to have found himself surrounded by kittens who apparently believe he’s their big brother! While he’s been a good sport about it, we think this handsome young man might be ready for a slower, calmer life where he can relax, soak up affection, and enjoy being someone’s baby for a change. ❤️

🚨‼️STAFFORD COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER HAS CATS AND KITTENS‼️🚨

Stafford County Animal Shelter currently has 55 cats (like little Cinderella below) on our adoption floor, and even more cats waiting for space to become available so that they too can accept visitors. We have kitties ranging in age from 8 weeks to as old as 7 years (for example) waiting for their forever families to come take them home.

Important info our feline friends would like you to know:

• Please visit the shelter if seriously interested in adoption. Our staff works diligently to help all visitors with their questions about potential four-legged family members and can fully and best assist in-person.
• Picture ID/proof of current address is required at time of adoption. Cat adoption fees are $35.
• If a cat is not yet spayed or neutered, adopters must live in Stafford, King George, Spotsylvania, Fauquier, Culpeper, Prince William, Caroline, or the City of Fredericksburg. This restriction only applies to unaltered animals. If an animal has been sterilized, there are no restrictions.
• The shelter is located at 26 Frosty Lane, Stafford, VA

The shelter opens at 11 AM for adoptions and looks forward to helping you find your new best friend. We also have over 20+ adoptable dogs waiting to find their forever home!

🚨 URGENT FOSTER PLEA: FOUR TINY KITTENS NEED YOU! 🐾

Meet Fancy Feast, Churu, Friskies, and Shiba! 💕 We have three little boys and one little girl who need an immediate foster home!

These tiny nuggets are trying to eat on their own, but they still need extra support and care as they grow. We’re looking for a foster with some experience caring for young kittens, including bottle-feeding, who can help them through this important stage.

As you can see, these four are ACTIVE! We applaud the photo studios that manage to get adorable kitten pictures with babies sitting sweetly in a basket. Clearly, that was not in the forecast at the shelter today! These little wiggle worms had places to go and things to investigate. 📸🐱

They need a safe, loving home where they can eat, grow, play, and get the extra attention they need.

A few important foster details:
Foster homes must be residents of Stafford County, Virginia, so our foster animals can remain close to our supervising veterinarian. We appreciate your understanding!

We provide the supplies and veterinary care needed for the animals in our foster program. You provide a safe place for them to stay and the care they need.

Foster animals may include unweaned kittens and puppies, animals with special needs, animals needing socialization, and adoptable animals when shelter space is limited.

Virginia law also requires foster caregivers to provide adequate food, water, shelter, space, exercise, cleaning, transportation, and veterinary care as needed.
