🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from all of us at the shelter! 🇺🇸

Our shelter is closed today for Labor Day. But don’t worry—we’ll be back tomorrow at 11 AM, and we have SO many wonderful dogs and cats waiting to meet their future families! 🐶🐱

And just look at Gear Head. 🥹 This sweet little guy is just one of the many faces hoping that tomorrow is the day someone walks through our doors and says, “That’s my baby.” ❤️

While our doors may be closed today, our animals are still dreaming of the families they’ll meet tomorrow.

IN NEED OF FOREVER HOMES: CATS & CATS GALORE!

Stafford County Animal Shelter’s adoption floor is full and we have many adult cats and kittens available for adoption. With pending stray hold expirations, litters of kittens due to return from foster care in the coming weeks, and intakes of strays a continuous occurrence, we need to find homes for some very deserving felines!

Please VISIT shelter between 9:30-3:30 today if interested in adopting. Below are just SOME of the many cats we currently have on our adoption floor. Our staff will be unable to monitor social media (therefore inquiries online will most likely be missed) and we will be able to answer any and all inquiries of potential adopters in a timely and full manner in-person.

Important info:
- All altered cats are eligible to be adopted by anyone, anywhere. Unsterilized animals are eligible to be adopted by residents of Stafford, King George, Spotsylvania, Prince William, Fauquier, Culpeper, Caroline, or the City of Fredericksburg.
- Picture ID and/or proof of current address is required at time of adoption.
- Cat adoption fees are $35 and adoptions are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.

🐾 WE NEED FOSTERS FOR ADULT CATS 🐾

Over the last week, we have welcomed more than 20 cats into our shelter — several coming from difficult conditions and needing a little extra care before they’re ready for adoption.

Right now, we have at least 4 adult cats who desperately need foster homes. ❤️

Some are underweight and need extra meals, snacks, and TLC to help them gain strength. Some are starting to develop kitty colds and would benefit from a quiet place to rest and recover. And some simply need something that is sometimes hard to provide in a busy shelter environment: time, patience, and someone to show them that people can be kind.

🏠 Fostering can make all the difference.

A foster home gives these cats a calm, comfortable place to decompress, receive the individual attention they need, and begin their journey toward a brighter future.

We provide the supplies and support you need — you provide the safe space and the love. 🥹❤️

Our shelter team is working hard to care for every animal who comes through our doors, but we cannot do this alone. Our community is an essential part of lifesaving.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, these cats need you now.

BASHFUL HAS BEEN ADOPTED

BASHFUL

My name is Bashful and I am exactly that. I arrived as a stray and no one came to reclaim me. I am a shy, young girl who needs time to trust but have a funny, spirited side that has started to shine through. I am a german shepherd/husky mix so I won't be satisfied with just laying around the house all day, I will need someone to stimulate my mind (I already know how to sit so anything is possible.

I arrived with two other dogs but I'd ask you to bring your resident dogs for a meet-and-greet to see if I might be a good match. I do not know how I feel about cats or kids.

My adoption fee is $45 and I am currently not yet spayed. Adoptions are first-come, first-served and picture ID/proof of address is required at time of adoption.

ADOPTED!

GIGI AND ATHENA - BONDED PAIR OF SISTERS

Gigi and Athena are a pair of one-year old guinea pig sisters who were surrendered to the shelter and are now on the search for their forever home together. They have had a lot of change in the last while so their next home should be their furever one!

Gigi and Athena come with some supplies and do not have an adoption fee. Adoptions are first-come, first-served, and picture ID/proof of current address is required at time of the adoption.

The shelter opens at 11AM and concludes adoption services at 5PM. We are located at 26 Frosty Lane, Stafford, VA 22554

🐾 ARE YOU MISSING ME? 🐾

We’re hoping to reunite this sweet little Poodle-type dog with his owners! ❤️

We’ve named him Oliver while he’s with us. He’s an estimated 5 years old, weighs 11 pounds, and is an intact male. He was wearing a nylon collar when he was found.
