Snarky Puppy Warner Theatre I was walking and had these thoughts and I wrote them down.
Here lies a story of a man and a group known as “Snarky Puppy”. This is straight off the cuff. No edits. No GPT. Straight from my mind to this medium. It started years ago, he stumbled upon a video of Michael League, Cory Henry, and Nat Townsley, performing “Continuum”. Just listening to the cohesiveness and precision between all the musicians, I was hooked. I too, am a musician. A percussionist. And I can appreciate some great rhythms. I began finding live performances of Snarky Puppy in small venues. With amazing performances and entertainment from the late, great Shaun Martin, may he rest in peace. In a rare find, with Mark arguing with the audience member! None of that mattered as what came out was just magical. How could so many talented people come together and make such magic? As I began to find more videos, the group grew. Larnell Lewis joined the crew in an amazing feat of learning a Snarky Puppy album in a day. The group now has about 800 members! The talent of these individuals is just next level. Orchestras, guest artists from around the globe, this group was becoming the spokesman for music. Lingus…oh my goodness. Now comes present day, Snarky Puppy performs in Washington DC. I have a great seat, only a few rows from the front, smack in the middle. The first song that comes out, “Waves Upon Waves”. One that I play constantly. Instantly my phone was in my hand recording this magic. Never do I remember being so excited about doing anything. The show was full of a beautiful ambience with great lighting. It’s tough to say what the best part was. Being there was the best part. Music played, I’m grooving, dancing in my tight little seat that felt like you were strapped into a roller coaster. Then comes the bass line that feels like it provides life to my soul. It’s disarming and makes me feel free. No matter my emotion, when I hear that smooth bass line, it just takes me to different place.
Now comes the real part of me wanting to write this. “Only Here and Nowhere Else”.
