Not everyone needs an overnight stay. Sometimes you just need someone to check in on your pet during the day. That's exactly what drop-in visits are for.

Here's what actually happens during a Stay With Lacy drop-in visit:

I arrive at your home and do a quick check doors locked, everything looks normal, no issues. Then it's all about your pet.

🍽️ Fresh food and water. I follow your feeding instructions exactly. Right food, right amount, right time.

🚶 Potty break. If you have a dog, we go outside. I make sure they have time to do their business without being rushed.

🎾 Playtime and affection. This is not optional. Your pet isn't just getting fed and watered they're getting attention. Belly rubs, fetch, laser pointer for the cats, whatever makes them happy.

💊 Medications if needed. Administered exactly as instructed.

👀 A wellness check. I'm looking at your pet really looking. Are they eating? Are they alert? Is anything different from last time? I notice things.

Let me break down the difference between a boarding facility and in-home pet sitting because it's not even close.

🏢 BOARDING FACILITY:
Your pet is taken to an unfamiliar building. They're surrounded by animals they've never met. The noise level is constant barking, whining, doors slamming. They sleep in a kennel or a small run. Staff rotates, so your pet sees different faces every day. Feeding is on the facility's schedule, not your pet's. And unless you pay extra, "playtime" might be 15 minutes in a concrete yard.

🏡 IN-HOME PET SITTING:
Your pet stays in their own home. Same bed, same couch, same smells, same everything. There's one person me who follows YOUR routine. Dinner at 6? Done. Morning walk at 7? Done. Medications at specific times? Done. Your pet doesn't have to adjust to anything because nothing in their world has changed, except you're not there. And I'm making sure they barely notice.

I’m excited to officially join the Stay With Lacy team. Many of you already know Lacy and the loving, professional care she provides; I’m here to help make sure your pets’ favorite place to stay really stays at home.

I’ve been a dog person ever since I met my service dog, Honey (pity mix). My experience goes well beyond backyard play. I’ve cared for everything from high-energy pups to dogs who need extra patience and gentle handling.

A specialty of mine is traveling with Honey. I have extensive experience navigating the logistics of flying with dogs and managing everything that comes with keeping pets calm and comfortable in new environments.

Before I ever spend a night in your home or visit your pet, I need to know EVERYTHING. And I mean everything.

That's what the pet intake form is for. Some people look at it and think, "Wow, this is a lot of questions." Good. It should be. Because the more I know, the better I can care for your pet.

Here's some of what I ask:

🍽️ FEEDING — What food? How much? What time? Any allergies or sensitivities? Do they eat fast or slow? Do they guard their food?

💊 MEDICATIONS — What meds? What dosage? What time? How do they take it — hidden in food, syringe, pill pocket? Do they fight it?

🐕 BEHAVIOR — Are they crate-trained? Do they have triggers? Are they afraid of storms? Do they resource-guard? How are they with strangers? With other animals?

🏥 VET INFO — Who's your vet? What's the number? What's the closest emergency animal hospital? Do I have authorization to seek emergency care?

📞 EMERGENCY CONTACTS — Who do I call if I can't reach you? Is there a neighbor with a spare key?

🏡 HOUSE RULES — Alarm codes. Thermostat preferences. Which doors to lock. Where the supplies are.

Every single one of these details matters. If your pet has a seizure at 2 AM, I need to know what to do and who to call BEFORE it happens. If your dog is allergic to chicken and someone told me to just "give him whatever," that's a problem.

Preparation isn't extra. It's essential. And it's built into every booking.
