Session 2 with Maxx man ā€” now on the ground. šŸ”„

Everything weā€™re doing here is building toward directional force. I donā€™t really do ladder fetch or a traditional walking fetch. Buddy and I have put our own twist on the process that fits how we like to teach and how our dogs learn.

One step at a time, building understanding and confidence while keeping the attitude where we want it.

May ruffle some feathers, and if so, you know how to keep scrolling. Yes, I am going to pinch this dogā€™s ear. Every dog is different remember that.

One thing I think gets lost sometimes is that this part of dog training gets pushed way too hard on certain dogs. Pressure has its place, but I still believe dogs learn better when thereā€™s clarity and understanding behind it, not just pressure for the sake of pressure.

Maxx has already done a lot of free shaping fetch work, so this process should go pretty smoothly with him. Will there still be refusals and drops? Absolutely, and thatā€™s when pressure comes on. But I donā€™t believe the process has to turn into a fight.

When we move to the ground, itā€™ll be the same as it was on the table,clear communication, consistency, and making sure the dog understands how to succeed.
