Wonder Woman is a sweet, gorgeous pup who is ready to show off her super skills on a home!

Wonder is very friendly and enjoys meeting new people. Recently she hung out in the shelter lobby, and had a blast meeting all of the people coming in and out, including children. She took treats very gently from an elementary aged child and gave some very polite kisses on her cheek!

Wonder Woman enjoys walks and keeps a polite pace, passing other dogs and people with no issues. Her ears have the cutest bounce on walks too! She knows sit and is also potty trained. Wonder Woman did well in playgroup with another dog and enjoyed good, pokey play.

Wonder really doesn’t do well in shelter life and is usually very shut down in her kennel. She barely eats and curls into a ball in the very back of her apartment. She is ready to get back in a home where she belongs, being a superdog everyday for her family.

Frosty Faces: Senior Dogs Spotlight 🐾🌟

Senior pups often get overlooked in the rescue world, even though there are so many benefits to adopting from this age group. They are often low-maintenance, drama-free, and super loyal companions who bond deeply.

Need a dog who can spend several hours alone with no issues while you’re at work or bouncing between children’s extracurriculars?

Or what about a dog who is just as happy to cuddle with you on the couch for hours as they are to go for nice stroll around the neighborhood or a hike on nearby trails?

When you adopt or foster a senior dog, you are giving them a second chance that they never take for granted! Many senior dog adopters say older pups love the hardest.

Toolin Around is a mature guy who loves strolls, knows several commands, likes to play, and is a super cuddler! He has been waiting in the shelter for months and would love to rest his body on a couch or dog bed instead of a kennel floor. Come meet him at the shelter, open 11-6 daily.

We're running low on a few things at CARE STL, and we're hoping our community can help us restock! ❤️

Right now, we could really use:

🧺 Blankets – To keep our shelter pets cozy and comfortable.

🐾 Towels – We go through SO many of these every single day!

🛍️ Plastic grocery bags – Yes, those bags you've been stuffing into another bag under your kitchen sink. We want them! 😂

If you're cleaning out your linen closet or have a growing collection of grocery bags, we'd be happy to take them off your hands!

Donations can be dropped off at CARE STL any day of the week between 11 AM and 6 PM.

HAIL MARY: Gerbil has until Monday, October 26, to find an adopter or rescue.

Gerbil has a bladder stone at least the size of a golf ball. He's in significant pain, struggling to urinate, and needs surgery. CARE is prepared to provide that surgery, but first, we need someone who can commit to his long-term care.

Gerbil came to CARE in September after Animal Control spent weeks trying to catch him. He was scared, shy, and unsure of everyone. He's actually a very calm boy, and once he gets to know you, he's incredibly sweet.

Unfortunately, Gerbil has been struggling with urinary issues for weeks. He was treated for a UTI, but when he didn't improve, further testing revealed the enormous bladder stone you can see in his X-ray. He's been straining to urinate, sometimes producing only a few drops of blood-tinged urine. He's back on pain medication, but his quality of life right now is poor.

We want to change that for him.

If an adopter or rescue steps forward, CARE will provide the surgery. However, Gerbil will likely need a prescription urinary diet, ongoing veterinary care, and monitoring for recurring bladder stones or UTIs.

This is why we're seeking an adopter or rescue rather than a temporary foster. Surgery addresses his immediate medical issue, but he needs someone committed to his care beyond recovery. As an overcrowded municipal shelter, we cannot provide that level of long-term medical management indefinitely.

We don't know what Gerbil is like in a home, whether he's potty trained, or how he does with other animals. We do know he's a sweet, calm boy who deserves a chance.

If we cannot secure an adopter or rescue commitment by Monday, October 26, we will have to proceed with humane euthanasia.

Meet Fitzwilliam—The Ultimate Steady Eddie Available for Adoption!

If you’re looking for a low-drama, calm companion who appreciates the simple things in life, Fitzwilliam might just be your perfect match.

On neighborhood strolls, he’s a total dream and passes other people and dogs with no problems. He also loves going for hikes on various trails and adores splashing in creeks and water. On the ride there, he sits politely in the backseat looking out the window.

Fitzwilliam loves other dogs and did great in shelter playgroups. He also enjoys the company of his people. When making new friends, he isn’t the kind of dog who jumps all over you like a bulldozer. He politely takes his time coming up to sniff and say hi to a new friend.

Alex has a favorite at CARE, and he's not exactly keeping it a secret. 😂❤️

Alex is one of our staff members, and he recently shared this video of John Adams with the comment:

“My favorite favorite John Adams aka the goodest mans ever, easy, super friendly and listens super well.”

So yeah, we'd say John Adams has made a pretty good impression.

John Adams is just a year and a half old and came to CARE on September 30th after being left chained up in a backyard. People had been bringing him food and water, but he'd been left out there without anyone properly caring for him.

He's been with us for a little over three weeks now, and while he's clearly made some friends here, we'd really love to see him get into a home. He hasn't had the opportunity to spend time in foster yet, so there's still a lot we'd love to learn about him outside of the shelter.

If you're looking for a friendly, easygoing dog, John Adams is definitely worth meeting. And if you need a character reference, we know a guy. 😂

Munster needs a home. ❤️‍🩹

This poor kid absolutely HATES living in the shelter. And one of the saddest things about him is watching how much he doesn't want to go back into his kennel after spending time outside. 💔

He's such a fun little guy, too! Ridiculously cute, super smart, food motivated, and surprisingly agile. He loves getting out and exploring, and you can practically see that little brain working. He can get a bit overstimulated sometimes, so a calm approach and gentle voice go a long way with him.

What makes us even sadder is that Munster has wounds on both of his back legs, along with older scars that make us worry he may have been tied up by his back legs in the past. We don't know exactly what happened to him, and we wish we did.

But what we do know is that this sweet boy deserves to experience so much more than what he's known so far.

We would love nothing more than to see Munster leave the shelter and finally have a home where he can relax, feel safe, and just be a dog.

Please come meet Munster. He really needs someone to give him a chance. 🩷
