We don’t believe it’s realistic for your dog’s life to be completely free of stress.
In fact, we think learning how to navigate stress is an ✨important✨ part of growing.
Think about it: we don’t become more resilient by never experiencing anything uncomfortable. We learn through CHALLENGES. We figure out what we’re capable of, what helps us feel safe, and who we can trust when things get hard.
Our dogs deserve the opportunity to learn those things, too. 🐾
That does NOT mean intentionally overwhelming them or throwing them into situations they aren’t prepared for. There’s a huge difference between a HEALTHY challenge and distress.
Our job isn’t always to remove every uncomfortable situation from our dogs’ lives. Sometimes, our job is to guide them through it.
We can give them space. We can advocate for them. We can help them regulate. We can communicate clearly and give them the support they need to work through something instead of immediately removing every challenge.
Because every time your dog experiences something difficult and comes out the other side feeling safe, supported, and successful, they have the opportunity to build a little more confidence.
And maybe even more importantly, they learn:
“I can handle hard things. And my human has my back.”
That’s the kind of resilience we want to help our dogs build. 💜
