Meet Spot - my training assistant. People do double takes when she helps with my lessons. She is the perfect assistant- quiet, holds still, lets puppies climb on her and can take a bite without injury. 🤣🐾

I love rescue groups and shelters. However, when they are not totally honest about a dog’s temperament, they set the dog and person up for failure. I am talking about aggression to people or dogs. I just had to counsel a client who is afraid of her biting dog and is heartbroken about thinking of returning him. Aggression issues can be a lifetime project that many people just can’t take on. And the problem is that the dog is not aggressive all the time. Then the decision would be easy. But constantly waiting for that aggressive reaction is super stressful. Some dogs can definitely be helped, but it depends on ease of triggering and severity of the bites. I just wish rescues who don’t provide the whole picture could spend time with a person who is crying and feeling like a failure because they don’t want to live waiting for that aggressive outburst from their dog.

This is what dogs look like after a good round of training. They loved it and now I can get other things done.
