Huge congratulations to Dr. Brooks on being named Board Member of the Year by the Affton Chamber of Commerce!
Her commitment to our community goes far beyond our clinic walls & we’re honored to see her leadership recognized in such a meaningful way.
Dr. Tara Brooks is a dedicated veterinarian, community leader, and advocate for education and animal welfare. A 2004 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine, she became owner ofAffton Veterinary Clinic in 2008 and led its successful relocation to a modern facility in 2018. An active member of the Affton-Lemay Chamber of Commerce Board since 2015, she served as Board President in 2023 and has chaired the Scholarship Committee for the past four years. Under her leadership, scholarship awards doubled from $500 to $1,000 and expanded to benefit students from eight local high schools, reflecting her strong belief in education as a cornerstone of community growth.
Beyond the Chamber, Dr. Brooks serves on the Board of the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation and has supported global conservation efforts through the Saint Louis Zoo including work that helped save the Armenian viper from extinction. In 2015, she founded Hope Mending Hearts, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing financial assistance for animals in need of medical care. She and her husband, Jeff Arthur, share their home with three rescue dogs—Merlin, Tyrion, and Tucker—and remain deeply committed to the Affton-Lemay community. Dr. Brooks’s leadership, compassion, and service truly embody the spirit of the Board Member of the Year award.
