Today is — and Frosty’s story shows exactly why your support matters. How lucky for PRN that a longtime contributor has pledged to match donations up $2000!

Imagine being a tiny frail kitten, just 6 weeks old, alone and freezing in the woods on that cold December 3rd morning. By a most fortunate stroke of fate, a group of teens just happened to buzz by on their 4 wheelers when they noticed the shivering, pitiful bundle of fur. After reaching out to rescue contacts, the finders were able to turn over Frosty the kitten to the loving care of Pet Rescue Network.

From the start, it was obvious that Frosty would require intensive medical intervention as well as the expert care of a specialty foster. Experiencing severe respiratory infections, Frosty began a medical journey that continues to this day. While many of his respiratory symptoms resolved with expert medical care offered by local and specialty veterinarians, the initial infections have left ear complications that continue to be treated.

Now in an adoptive home, very loved and cherished, enjoying a happy life, Frosty continues to benefit from the support of PRN. PRN remains committed to working toward a final resolution of his ear condition. Hopefully with the skills of a veterinary surgeon and veterinary dermatologist, Frosty’s ear can be brought to even better optimal status. One thing is for sure.. PRN stands beside the pets in their family.

Help us save more Frostys.

Social media is filled with daily pleas for help for animals in need. Those working in rescue suffer heartbreaking emotions as they acknowledge the needs far outweigh the availability of resources. When rescues can help, they willingly step up..

Thus was the case of Lulu and Nora. Featured on one of multiple facebook re-homing pets groups, a PRN volunteered spied a precious & endearing photo of a 9 year old Lhasa Apso, as well that of a much younger puppy. Their family had experienced life circumstances which prevented them from continuing to care for these pups, no longer having time to devote to their needs. Luckily, a foster placement was secured, so help could be offered (foster families are the real super heroes in the world of rescue).

In the world of rescue, volunteers are well aware that surprises likely await … and often will NOT of a pleasant nature. Upon arrival to pick up Lulu and Nora, the volunteer was taken aback by the neglected condition of both pooches. Lulu the Lhasa was severely matted, with her fur soaked and skin burned by urine. Nora, the wee pup of just 6 or 7 months likewise suffered urine burns, and shockingly weighed less than 5 pounds. The priority became getting these precious girls immediately into a loving & healthy environment.

Once safely at the foster home, a most urgent need was serious clean up! Foster dad, though not a professional groomer, gave most valiant efforts in preliminary make over spa sessions! Lulu was bathed, large mats trimmed, grossly overgrown nails clipped, dirty ears cleaned, and eyes cleared as best able during her initial salon sitting. Lulu remained the sweetest little lady throughout the hours of this grooming session. Afterward, Lulu was presented with a comfy bed, dinner & fresh water. Her beauty mini makeover had wiped Lulu out! It was so very heartwarming to see her comfortably snuggled and sleeping soundly throughout the entire night. A professional grooming appointment was scheduled promptly, and all are anxiously awaiting her final "after" photos!

While Lulu was enjoying her makeover, sweet Nora was presented a hearty dinner, fresh water, and fluffy clean blankets to rest overnight. Boy, did she ever enjoy THAT meal!! And rest she did! Early the next morning it was bath and pedicure time for Nora! Of course this was followed by a healthy well balanced breakfast (greatly appreciated by Nora), and a new comfortable bed. With many small meals over the next couple of weeks, Lulu has gained 5 lbs and now weighs double her weight of just under 10 lbs. We are so delighted to see her reaching her optimal health.

Lulu and Nora are both very sweet girls, and will make such great companions for a new family to cherish and spoil them. Watch for them soon on our website!

This Thursday 5/7/26 we celebrate Give Day STL 2026, a chance for caring individuals to support causes close to their hearts. PRN gratefully announces a generous benefactor has pledged to match donations up to $2000. Donate at https://www.givestlday.org/organization/petrescuenetworkstl

Today, we share the story of BJ, now Ben… once a young fellow fending for himself in a remote deeply wooded rural area. One crisp autumn day, he found his way to the secluded cabin of an elderly couple. Scrawny and timid, hunger had driven this lad to raid trash cans inside the garage, searching for sustenance. The owners could not turn a blind eye and thus provided a hearty meal and a warm soft spot sheltered from the cold and rain.

As time went on, Ben made it quite clear that he had unpacked his bags at the cabin, with no intention of moving on or returning to the woods. Attempts to find owners failed. Peeking in the windows or sitting on the porch railings, he seemed to announce, okay, so I’m here to stay. Braver and braver he became as his timidity melted away. He was soon permitting, even craving, affection from humans. Pet Rescue Network stepped up, providing neuter & vaccinations, testing, food, toys galore, and a host of amazing cat beds (of course Ben showed a strong preference for the empty Costco box as his bed of choice)

Ben LOVED the life of a foster cat, safely inside…purring loudly, making biscuits on this foster mom’s lap, zipping in cat tunnels, crazily swatting at dangly toys. Sadly, he had tested positive for FIV, but PRN remained certain a wonderful family could be found who would welcome this gentle soul into their lives.

And talk about happy endings!! After 6 months of being loved and cherished by his foster family, the perfect home was found! Ben is now the only feline “son” of a most remarkable lady, who has been an animal lover her entire life. Residing now in a lovely upscale urban apartment with a wall of windows, he can peer out upon the hustle & bustle of the city scene. He enjoys the fanciest gourmet foods, and snuggles nightly with his doting mom. From woodland waif to debonair city slicker, Ben is happier than one could ever imagine.

The support of donors like you allows PRN to help cats like Ben. Rural and urban areas alike deal with significant numbers of stray cats, many of who are definitely adoptable if fosters and rescue groups can garner resources. Donors allow us to address the needs of these cats who face life on their own, whether born in the wild, abandoned by previous owners, lost or separated by accident or intentionally

Early donations are now open at https://www.givestlday.org/organization/petrescuenetworkstl No donation is too small and EVERY donation deeply appreciated.
