Could your pet have a painful mouth? 🦷🐾

Dogs and cats can have significant dental disease without showing obvious signs of pain.

You may notice:
• Bad breath
• Dropping food or chewing differently
• Difficulty eating
• Pawing at the mouth
• Excessive drooling
• Swollen or bleeding gums
• A reluctance to chew on toys or treats

And remember: eating normally does not necessarily mean a pet’s mouth is pain-free.

Our pets can be remarkably good at hiding dental pain. Regular dental exams help us identify problems before they become more serious.

Pain doesn't always look like pain. 🐾

Sometimes the first sign that a dog or cat is hurting is a change in behavior.

A normally friendly pet may become withdrawn. A playful pet may stop engaging. A calm pet may become irritable or even react differently when touched.

Other clues can include:
• Hiding more
• Restlessness or difficulty settling
• Changes in sleeping habits
• Less interaction with family
• Changes in grooming
• Suddenly avoiding certain activities

Your pet can’t tell you where it hurts. Behavior may be their way of telling you something is wrong.

If you notice a change that lasts, it’s worth having your pet checked.

“They’re just slowing down.” Or are they? 🐾

As dogs and cats age, it’s easy to assume that sleeping more, moving slower, or no longer jumping onto the couch is simply part of getting older.

But those changes can also be signs of arthritis or other painful conditions.

Watch for:
🐶 Hesitating before stairs or jumping
🐱 No longer jumping onto favorite places
🐶🐱 Stiffness after resting
🐶🐱 Difficulty getting up or lying down
🐶🐱 Less interest in play or activity

Getting older isn’t a disease—and your pet shouldn’t have to live with untreated pain.

If you’ve noticed changes in your pet’s mobility, talk with your veterinarian. ❤️

National Pet Memorial Day | September 13 🐾❤️

Today, we remember the pets who have left paw prints on our hearts and forever changed our lives.

For many of us, our pets are family. They are there for the ordinary moments, the celebrations, the difficult days, and all the little moments in between. When we lose them, their absence is deeply felt.

Today is a day to pause, remember, and honor those special companions who are no longer by our side but will always be a part of our lives.

Share a favorite memory, look through old photos, light a candle, or simply take a moment to remember the love you shared.

To everyone missing a beloved pet today: we remember them with you. 🌈🐾

September is Animal Pain Awareness Month 🐾

Did you know that dogs and cats often hide their pain?

Instead of crying or limping, a pet in pain may:
• Sleep more than usual
• Stop wanting to play
• Have trouble getting comfortable
• Become less social or more irritable
• Have difficulty going up stairs or jumping
• Change their eating or grooming habits

These changes can be subtle, especially in cats. Knowing what’s normal for your pet makes it easier to recognize when something isn’t right.

If your pet’s behavior has changed, don’t assume it’s “just getting older.” Pain could be the reason. ❤️🐶🐱

You don't have to wait for your pet to cry before taking pain seriously.🐾

Dogs and cats don't always vocalize when they're hurting. In fact, many pets continue eating, drinking, and going about their daily routines even when they're experiencing discomfort.

That’s why paying attention to small changes matters.

Is your dog no longer excited about walks?
Is your cat sleeping in a different spot?
Has your pet stopped jumping, playing, grooming, or interacting like they used to?

Those little changes can be important clues.

This Animal Pain Awareness Month, take a closer look at what’s normal for your pet—and speak with your veterinarian if something seems different.

Because our pets deserve to feel their best at every age. 🐶🐱❤️
