Hillside Animal Hospital We are a small animal veterinary clinic in the city of St Louis right near "The Hill" neighborhood. We are an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital.

Please visit our website to learn more about our practice and check out our blog. That means we hold ourselves to a higher standard. Pets are our passion. And keeping them healthy is our #1 priority. Here, we strive to deliver excellent care for pets. Because your pets deserve nothing less. Hillside Animal Hospital, originally City Animal Hospital, was started in 1946 by Dr. Normal Schmelzer. It was one of the first veterinary hospitals in the city of St Louis. The hospital moved into its current building at 5325 Manchester Ave in 2001, increasing the facility space by 5 times. The original clinic building is now being used by The Feral Companion. In 2020, Dr. Anna Migneco and Dr. Aaron Willis took over ownership. The practice now supports five doctors providing compassionate veterinary care for numerous patients and rescue organizations.

Look who’s BACK! 🐾💙

Remember this tiny little face?! 🐶 We shared this sweet boy with you when he was just a little nugget, and we can’t get over how much he’s grown already!
Watching our littlest patients grow into happy, healthy big pups is one of the best parts of what we do. 🐾💙

Help us give this handsome boy some love in the comments! ⬇️

Meet Dr. Brittney! 🐾

Since joining our team in 2020, Dr. Brittney has become an invaluable part of our Hillside. She is a compassionate, knowledgeable veterinarian who truly cares about her patients and their families.

Last weekend our team stepped out for a night of mystery at the historic Lemp Mansion, dressed as famous faces—from Amelia Earhart and Ozzy Osbourne to Jimmy Buffett and Lucille Ball.

There were clues, accusations, plenty of laughs, and just enough suspicion to keep things interesting. 🔎🕵️‍♀️

A team outing we definitely won’t forget…

Spooky season is here… but there’s nothing scary about a visit to Hillside! 👻 🎃

It was Birdie’s first visit with us, and her family told us they’ve never seen her more relaxed and at ease with a stranger!

That’s exactly what Fear Free care is all about!

The only thing we’re afraid of around here? Frightening our patients! 🎃💜

WOW! What an amazing community we have. Freya didn’t have to wait long for her forever home!
Thanks all who shared.

Freya is searching for her forever home! 🐾

Freya is one of three kittens rescued by our technician, Destiny, after they were found abandoned in a car. Thankfully, aside from being hot and scared, all three were healthy and ready for a second chance.

Her siblings are heading to their forever homes tomorrow. Will you be the one to give Freya that same comfort, love, and safety of a home of her own? ❤️

Call our office to inquiry about adoption.

Meet Ella 🐾

Joining the veterinary world was a new adventure for Ella , and she has embraced the opportunity to learn and grow alongside our team. As one of the first faces our clients see, she loves helping make every visit a positive experience for both pets and their people.
