Today, after a full day of day training, we had the pleasure of working with two wonderful families and their pups! ❤️
Our first session was with Remi, a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix who struggles with a severe lack of confidence. Remi was rescued from a very poor situation and is now learning what it means to be part of a family for the very first time.
Today, we focused on some of the everyday interactions that can be incredibly difficult for Remi, including putting his leash on and taking it off, being touched, and being held. These are things his family has continued to struggle with during his first two weeks at home, and we wanted to give them the tools and guidance to help Remi feel safer and more comfortable.
This sweet boy is terrified of the world around him, but little by little, he is learning that his family is a safe place to turn to. Confidence doesn’t happen overnight, and with patience, consistency, and the right support, we are so excited to see just how far Remi can go. He is beyond lucky to have found a family so committed to helping him succeed, and we cannot wait to watch their progress together! ❤️
Our second session was with Hank and his mom and dad!
Hank is a pretty well behaved guy most of the time, but when he has his mind set on something, everything else seems to go out the window! We worked on leash control, manners, and helping Hank and his dad build clearer communication with one another.
Our focus was on setting consistent expectations, understanding when to use correction and redirection appropriately, and helping Hank better understand what is being asked of him. Sometimes, it’s not about teaching a dog everything from scratch. It’s about improving communication, creating consistency, and helping both ends of the leash work together!
We are SO excited to officially welcome both of these pups and their families to our day training crew as they get started Monday! Every dog has different needs, and we love being able to meet each family where they are and build a plan that sets them up for long term success.
Spots are already filling for next week! If you’ve been thinking about getting started with training, now is the time to reach out and secure your spot.
At Devoted K-9 Training, we strive for long term success, no matter the age, breed or temperament! 🐾❤️
