BLACK DOGS DESERVE ALL THE LOVE, TOO! 🖤🐾

Our black dogs are just as sweet, lovable, and deserving of their forever homes as any other dog! And what better time to celebrate them than a weekend when CHAPPELL BONES IS BACK ONSITE! 🎉🐶

Chappell has been thriving in her foster home, but she’s coming back to Five Acres for a special weekend visit! This 3-year-old girl has the kind of confident, goofy personality that makes it impossible not to smile. She loves her people, is always ready for pets and treats, and is happiest when she’s getting plenty of attention. 🥰

ONE WEEK AWAY!! ✨

Tats for Tails is officially ONE WEEK from today! Join us on October 30 at Frenchtown Tattoo Company from 12 PM–9 PM for a day of tattoos, fun, and giving back!

All proceeds will go directly toward caring for the homeless dogs and cats at Five Acres Animal Shelter. ❤️🐶🐱

We’ll be stopping by throughout the day with some of our adorable adoptable dogs! 🥹💕

AND GET EXCITED! The flash designs will be released the night before, so keep an eye out to see what’s in store! 👀🔥

INTRODUCING PHILBY! 🐾💗

Looking for a laid-back companion who loves cozy blankets, good food, and being close to his people? Then meet Philby! We got to learn all about this sweet 6-year-old gentleman during his time in foster, and let’s just say, he has the BEST personality! 🥰

Some Philby info straight from his foster mom! 💕

- Philby is a sweet, silly, affectionate guy! He loves a good back or jaw scratch, and when those scritches hit just right, he might even flop right over to show you how happy he is!

- Once you settle onto the couch, don’t be surprised if Philby comes looking for a lap to curl up on. Add a soft blanket, and you’ve earned bonus points!

- He also has the cutest little trilling meow and a playful side that comes out for his favorite toys.

- And we can’t forget about his LOVE of food! Don’t let his missing teeth fool you; this boy still has quite the appetite! He’ll even supervise while you get his meals ready.

Philby is cat-friendly and has done well around calm, respectful dogs who give him space. 🐶🐱

If you’re looking for a sweet, slightly goofy companion who will keep you company, enjoy a few play sessions, and happily curl up beside you, Philby might just be your guy! ❤️

Our vet techs work alongside our veterinarian to provide complete, comprehensive medical care to the dogs and cats in our shelter, as well as pets in our community. Their dedication, compassion, and hard work make such a difference in the lives of so many animals! 🐶🐱💗

Our black cat trio is here to remind you that NYOF Tuesday is TODAY! 🖤 🐾

All dogs 6+ months old and over 25 pounds, as well as all cats 6+ months old, are eligible!

And yes, you read that right… a black cat TRIO! All three handsome boys pictured here are different cats! Meet Grackle, Brandon, and Suge Knight! 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

- Grackle is a 4-year-old male currently living in a foster home. He loves attention and definitely knows how to ask for it!

- Brandon is a 2-year-old male also in foster. He can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he loves pets and affection.

- Suge Knight is a 3-year-old male waiting for his forever home onsite at Five Acres! He's a playful, affectionate lap cat who would love to curl up with his person.

We’re so excited to announce an amazing new event with Frenchtown Tattoo Company in St. Charles! 🎉

Join us on October 30th from 12 PM to 9 PM as they donate a portion of every tattoo to the animals here at Five Acres! 🐶🐱❤️

We couldn’t be more excited about this event and can’t wait to see you all there! We’ll even be stopping by throughout the day with some adorable adoptable dogs! 🐕💕

Huck and Chip had the BEST time at their cuddle break at Burns & McDonnell this past week! Thank you so much for having us out! The boys loved getting to meet everyone and soak up all the extra love and attention. ❤️ 🐾

And some exciting news… 🥳 CHIP WAS ADOPTED! 🎉 He found his person at the cuddle break! We couldn’t be happier for Chip and his new family.

Huck is still on the lookout for his forever family! This sweet boy is ready for his next adventure, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for him. 🐶 💛
