Erbe Farms

Erbe Farms Neighborhood, family owned urban farm in Saint Charles, Missouri producing gourmet mushrooms & herbs. Anyway... we started posting our progress on Facebook.

In late 2016 we started growing our own microgreens and salad mixes indoors. We had so much fun learning new methods of growing different species of plants that our dining room had started to become a greenhouse and we had way more produce that we could eat between the two of us. This year (2017) we have started to begin expanding / formalizing our indoor growing area as well as learning about mor

e plants. While sunflower micros are awesome... you can only eat them with every meal so long :-)

Currently we're getting ready to start sprouting for our gardens outside starting with a huge batch of lavender, followed by another batch of peppers, tomatoes, squash, eggplant, and a few others. Even more exciting, when we finish that, the rack will be converted into a nutrient film aquaponic system for indoor lettuce, spinach, kale, and chard. Right now we want to see how much of our own food we can produce, as well as try to develop a steady enough system to supply some local restaurants with some portion of their produce. We've even been looking into the organic certification process for down the road. Then people started asking about it when we didn't, so we figured our little micro farm deserved it's own page. So here you have it!

Been a pretty busy week around here. Lots of business planning on top of the usual farm and kitchen work. I think we're getting close to a really solid plan and am very excited about starting to work with a couple other local farms and ranches on the food side of things.

Thanks to the new A/C we're finally able to start putting a few more species through the grow. Pioppinos are back on the menu 😎 Hopefully we'll get some chestnuts poping here in the not too distant future.

The bees are doing well. Had to add a couple more supers to get them some room. Looks like we're definitely gonna get some honey at this point, so that is exciting.

Micro and Baby greens are all starting to get pretty reliable. We had to reduce the light a little bit in the grow rig cause they were burning the leaves in a spots. Think we'll have them reliable and ready very soon.

The outdoor plants are doing pretty decent too. Sunflowers starting to form. Gonna see if we get lucky with some late peppers and put in some summer crops into the beds this week.

Have a good one folks!

My food truck... my next food truck... my next truck... a dude who didnt realize he was a mushroom nut... my old jeep, but red.... my wish list...

So we're at the , 3rd annual car and bike show. It opens at 10am but as you can see its already filling up. Looks like were gonna have a little sun creeping out shortly and are set up for one heck of a car show.

I ran out of pics on the post but there are a lot of cool vendors here, pets for adoption from and .

Even more so veteran organizations like and .

What's even cooler about the car show... all the event proceeds, and a portion of vendor sales go towards helping the local veteran community.

So if you're looking for something fun, and a good cause, come out to the and check it out today from 10am till 3pm 😁

It's a little rainy today, but the mushrooms don't mind 😁 The shop is open with a fresh crop of Oysters and the truck is getting ready to head over to GDF for the afternoon.

Just about got the greens mixes timed to land together for salads. Last load of spent substrate ready to mix into the beds. Indoor starts are making progress too but forgot to grab pics.

Time to get back to work over here. Have a good one all!
