Enjoying some morning cuddles from Pita. She will go to her forever home on Saturday. When a foster is ready to move on from our home, I always think about the what ifs. What if they hadn’t gotten rescued? What if they didn’t have a safe spot to heal and grow? What if they didn’t have this chance?

With Pita, Rye and Brioche the outlook would have been a sad one. Coming from a property with 60+ cats, there would have been continued competition just to survive. Pita and her siblings came covered in fleas, which would have been an ongoing issue had they not gotten rescue. As many of you know Pita also struggled with serious gastrointestinal issues. Even with constant care, she had a rough time those 10 days.

I am just so thankful for the rescuers that earned the trust of the property owner and helped him understand how they could help. It brought Pita, Rye and Brioche the miracle of a future life as a loved family cat. It also helped rescue many other kittens, so they have the same wonderful future. For the under socialized cats on the property, most have been trapped and returned. With a smaller population and stopping the reproduction cycle, things will be better for those that were returned to the site.

Please know you can impact animals in so many ways, not just by fostering. You can donate funds to spay & neuter programs, attend events to support rescued and adopt from your local shelters or rescues. Every little bit helps!

Remember Mac & Cheese from earlier this summer? They are now available for adoption through Smelly Cat Rescue! Despite all they went through, these boys are the biggest sweethearts. I am so very thankful I was able to help them heal and be a small part of their story.
