Vet visits can be stressful for many animals, but especially for cats. While we try to make things as easy as possible for them here, knowing ways to help your cat at home can help improve their vet day overall.

Different species have different communication styles. They may be slight, but dogs have definite calming signals when stressed. Holding a front paw up, yawning, sniffing the ground, and looking away are all excellent examples. When interacting with a dog showing nervousness or fear, it can help to turn your back to them, yawn, and even look down at the ground to show them it's ok. What's not ok to do? Reward them! If a dog is rewarded with pets, attention, or treats when showing fear or aggression, they understand that they are correct in showing those behaviors and that there IS something to worry about.
