✨Anniversary Spotlight✨
Help us in celebrating Dr. Fricke's 31 years with McKenzie Animal Hospital!
Dr. Fricke's passion for Veterinary Medicine stems from his desire to help animals and their people live happier, longer, healthier lives together.
Dr. Fricke pursued Veterinary Medicine after he realized that his first passion of Entomology was not the romantic career he originally thought it would be. As a preschool and middle-schooler, he imagined spending his days outside with a butterfly net and magnifying glass, studying and discovering the amazing variety of insects in the world. Once he learned that the primary role of an entomologist is developing insecticides to more efficiently kill insects and arthropods, the career lost much of its allure.
Dr. Fricke always had pets growing up, and was the kid who didn't want to leave the petting zoo, who always had a praying mantis or a gecko in a jar, and made sandbox cities for the ants in the backyard. When he was in high school, a career counselor introduced him to Veterinary Medicine as an option, and he realized that was the career he was here to do.
Dr. Fricke has extensive experience caring for many animal species, from traditional household pets and exotic animals to wildlife, birds of prey, and zoo animals. He considers himself incredibly fortunate to have worked with such a diverse range of species, and provided the opportunity to practice the high quality medicine that Dr. Marty DeWees established at McKenzie Animal Hospital. By equipping the clinic with advanced technology and supporting his pursuit of certifications in complementary therapies, she empowered Dr. Fricke to provide well-rounded, integrative treatment options for all his patients.
He is very thankful that he happened to land here at McKenzie Animal Hospital and so are we! Happy Anniversary, Dr. Fricke, thank you for your 31 years of dedication to this hospital and its team, clients and patients.
